Toshiba Satellite M30x laptop Invalid destination... (by 2 users)

I have a Toshiba Satellite M30x laptop. I get the following error:

Error Number: (11030)
Message: Invalid destination drive
Problem: Can't recover it, it won't boot up to Windows XP, so I need to
recover it. When I put the Recovery DVD, Reovery comes up asking...
"1...Recover Entire Hard Disk
2...Expert Recovery Mode
3...Exit"
I choose number one, once I have pressed 1, a similar screen comes up
saying...
"Caution!
The contents of the hard disk will be deleted
1...Continue
2...Cancel"
Again, I press 1 to continue.
The screen goes blank again and Toshiba screen flashes up for less than
a second and goes blank again with the words
"!!!!!ERROR!!!!!
Press Any Key To Continue"...
Once I press any key, the screen remains blank with this message now on
the monitor:
"Date: Thu Nov 4 08:57:48 2005
Error Number: (11030)

Once I press ESC, this screen comes up and this is where I can't go
further:

This is where I am stuck and cannot go further.

An internal inconsistency has been detected. If this problem persists,
please contact TOSHIBA centre or contact Symantec support.

Laptop used to restart all by itself on more than one ocassion. Hence I
used a recovery DVD. But I am stuck with the 11030 Error.

ApprenticeFirst, I think you need to understand what "recovery" means in this
context. I don't think that it means "recovery", I think it means to
restore your hard drive to the state it was in when it left the factory,
ERASING EVERYTHING THAT YOU HAD ON THE LAPTOP IN THE PROCESS.
Is this what you want?
Second, my guess here is that your hard drive has died to the point that
it's not even being seen by the bios or the IDE controller. If that's
the case, you will probably have to get a new hard drive before you can
restore it. And, also, if that's the case, everything that you had on
your hard drive is gone.
