Lite-on Combo CD/DVD Rom SOHC-5236K

I installed the subject hardware and my computer (HP Compaq DX2200) and have had problems booting up. I have tried bussing pins Master, Slave and Cable Sel at different times. I can get a DVD movie to play but I can't get the game 'Ratatouille' to download. I go to RUN and enter D:Install_Ratatouillle.exe and press enter. I get a message, 'D:Unavailable......' Right now my computer is operating at a snails pace. The DVD light is blinking and it won't open. I went in to BIOS and pressed F7, Return to Manufactures Defaults. I am in a quandry as what to do next. I was previously able to play a movie DVD on Media Player. Another problem has been that when the computer goes into hibernation it locks up and I have to press the on/off button for 5 sec to shut it down and restart it.
Any help would be appreciated.

It is not recommended to shut down your system by pressing the power button for 5 seconds. Its the same as unplugging your system, but i guess you don't have a choice. DVD players are quite troublesome. Some DVD players are picky to some CDs, or it could be that the disk may be scratched, or there may be dust in the lense of the player. About the CD not coming out of the drive, it could be a mechanism failure. Is the CD still in the drive? Turn off your PC, take a pin and insert it in the pinhole located in the DVD player. It is a manual eject button used to take off your CD during lockups. Your PC hanging up is because of the DVD.

Don't know if you've solved this problem, but I was having the same issue using Windows 7, 64bit. It had been working but Explorer crashed & Explorer restarted, it recognized the device, but I couldn't access the files. I tried it on another laptop & it worked. So I left it plugged in & restarted the computer and that fixed the problem. If that doesn't work, you may have to uninstall the driver that windows automatically installed for it & then plug it back in & have windows reinstall the driver. Good luck.

Hi i have a toshiba satellite pro a60 laptop i want to cange the dvd rom/ cd/rw drive to a dvd rw drive what the the problems with this

There should be no problems at all. Just go to the Toshiba web site, confirm that your computer can accept the new hardware and purchase a new dvdrom RW drive.

The drives are easy to remove and replace.

Hope this helps.

Why I go from start into my computer and I can not find my dvd icon and I can not play the dvd?

Hopefully this is a fairly easy fix. I have run into a large amount of computers coming into the shop with no CD/DVD rom showing. It seems to be an update that is effecting Vista and XP machines. Its a very simple Registry problem and deleting the High and Low filter entries the Rom drive will normally work again. Here is a page with step by step instructions:

http://www.icompute.info/cd_drive_not_in_windows.htm

This fix works the majority of the time unless your Rom drive has failed.

Hope this helps...

I am having problem with tv tuner card

i think your tv tuner is defective even if it is new, still factory defects can happen. try to install it in another computer, if you experience the same problem then it is defective. but have you checked your device status at device manager under sound, video and game controller. if you see a yellow apostrophe or a question mark it indicates that your tv tuner is havent been installed yet. try to double click the device and you'll see update driver then try to intall it by choosing automatically driver, be sure that the cd driver is inside your cd rom.
