1. Try downloading the vista compatible printer driver from the hp website.

2. If the above solution doesn't work try uninstalling the printer software and reinstalling it.

When i give a print command this error apears on the paper : pcl xl error subsystem:kernel error:illegaltag operator:0xfe

1st: turn off your printer, wait 5 minutes, turn on again. Try to print again and see if the problem is solved. If this doesn't work:
2nd: de-install your printer from your computer, download the latest driver for your operating system, install your printer again. And if this doesn't work, download the latest HP Laserjet generic driver and install it again.
You can find the drivers on the support page from HP, searching for the model printer that you have and select the driver for your operating system (windows xp, vista, 7..)

I have vista, (Laptop) and I was given a HP

An HP Laserjet 4 is really old iron.

You might try to use one of the HP Universal Drivers for PCL5.

What is the error that you get?

Downloaded driver from HP. connected printer via

HP Support says “If the Ready light is blinking, and the Go light is on, it indicates Data in the printer memory is waiting to be printed. Pressing the GO button prints from Tray 1 or from another tray if Tray 1 is empty and the paper size is supported in the other Tray. Pressing the JOB CANCEL button cancels the current job and the printer returns to ready.
Make sure the paper size is correctly defined.

I loaded Win 7. I need my printer to work badly. I have to print checks. I have a Laserjet 1022 Is there a driver or bata driver I can use.

Go to the HP website (www.hp.com) > click download drivers and firmware or support > type in HP laserjet 1022 > click the search arrows > click on you printer model > choose the operating system. If Windows 7 drivers aren't available yet the Windows Vista drivers should work just as well for the time being.

HP LJ 1005 installation end with driver conflict

That's wrong, The HPLJ1005 doesn't support windows vista.
Altough, the link cene765 is pointing to is for the HPLJ1005P which has vista drivers though these are two completely different printers. Searching the web for custom drivers now, will post solution if finding any.

I've downloaded the Vista driver for a Laserjet 1160, go through the add printer process, it confirms printer added successfully, but it still won't print. I've checked leads and USB ports and the printer...

Sandra, Do you see the HP LaserJet 1160 printer listed in Start (Windows Icon) > Control Panel > "Hardware and Sound/Printers" (Control Panel Home), or "Printers" (Classic View)? If you do not see the printer listed, run the installation from the CD that came with the printer, or you can download the drivers from the HP support site at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=410620&lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=410618&taskId=135note: make sure you choose the correct version (either Windows Vista, or Windows Vista x64). If you're unsure, you can check by right clicking "My Computer" and selecting "Properties". Under the system category you will see "System Type" noting either a "32-bit operating system" or "64-bit operating system". If you do see the printer listed in control panel/printers, then: Are you able to successfully print a test page? (Right-click the HP LasterJet 1160 and select "Properties", then select "Print Test Page").If not, does the test page show up in the printer queue? (You can check the queue by simply double clicking the printer). Let me know what you find!- Joshua

My HP LaserJet 1012 isn't printing. I can't print anything on my hp laser jet 1012. I have installed the CD disc and it says that it can't install it. It does go through the whole program. When I click on...

so the printer used to work fine before the computer was reset, right? the operating system you had is the same you have now? (like you had XP and now have Vista, or kept the same?) cause if you changed operating system you might have a driver version conflict.

this printers have a green button right? if so, what happen if you press it? does it print a demo page? correctly??

i recommend you to go hp.com and download the newest drivers for your model and operating system.

if this doesnt solve the issue (but the demo page came out OK) then you may want to check your communication cable. and do the reinstalling procedure again.

if still not working you will have to take your printer to be reset, or look over the web on how to, that information is classified.

Currently, a full-solution driver is not available for your product. However, we do have an alternative driver solution that you can conveniently find in Microsoft Windows Vista. This driver will enable your product's basic functions to work and can be used until the full driver solution is available. Full-solutions will be available as early as January 2007. HP expects to complete the certification process for applicable software by July 2007. Solutions will be posted as they become available. NOTE: If your printer currently uses either a PCL5, PCL6 or PostScript XP driver you may download the current XP driver from HP to provide printing functionality. Windows Vista printing is very similar to Windows XP and most print drivers supported in XP environment for LaserJet printers may also work in the Windows Vista operating system.
