I tried cleaning the heads, alignment, etc. Did not fix problem.

  • zaynab Sep 16, 2008

This solution has nothing to do with my problem.

  • zaynab Sep 16, 2008

The cartridge I am using is full and I always use Canon cartridges. Also, this cartridge was printing fine just prior to the bars appearing. I don't think this is the solution to the problem.

This is zaynab -- didn't have time to follow up on the last proposed solution and have lost it now. Someone suggested trying to print from another computer.  I did that and still had the bars across photos -- same thing happens with b/w photos.  So it isn't the computer.  Interestingly, this only happens when I am printing a photo direct from the computer.  If I copy the document with the photo, it comes out fine.
I did all the maintenance checks and went through adjusting the various valves, as prompted, but the problem persists.  Anyone have any further suggestions?  Is it possible I am not completing this last step properly?  The prompt is to press * or # for yes or no.
Suggestions?  Right now, I can work around, but remain puzzled by this.

Since the problem is not the Ink waste tank. Try updating the drivers or Uninstalling the printer completely and reinstall the printer using updated drivers from their site.

Try printing colored texts and see if the same problem occurs. does this problem happen when you try to print photos be it large or small? If it is then try using a different print software or if you have another computer try to use another computer. this would rule out software as being the problem.

Try purchasing a new replacement cartridge a official canon cartridge not a third party that may fix the problem. If you need any other assistance please let me know. If you have a moment to accept and rate the solution it would be greatly appreciated it.
Thanks,
Lee

If you have uninstalled and re-installed the drivers and cleaned everything then you need to have the printer repaired/replaced. If you need any assistance with either one please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Lee

Remove the red cartridges

I ordered a bunch of ink cartridges off the internet and have been using them for a year now, replacing them as necessary. Never had a problem before this. The alarm came on out of nowhere, I had not even replaced a cartridge in the days leading up to the alarm coming on.

I removed the cartridges and soaked the printhead in rubbing alcohol for about two hours, I then let it dry overnight on some paper towels. I then reinstalled it and put the ink cartridges back in, and still the same alarm light blinking and the "wrong cartridge" is displayed on the lcd panel.

: Remove Cartridge
2: Unplug the AC Power Cord
3: Hold down the RESUME button
4: Release RESUME after plugging in the AC Power cord.
5: Press the RESUME once within 5 seconds and release the RESUME .
6: Press and HOLD RESUME for two seconds or more and release it.
7: Press and HOLD RESUME for two seconds or more and release it.
8: Unplug AC Power Cord to set data.

You need to do the print head cleaning. The steps are listed below.

Print Head Cleaning / Head Refreshing
If the printed Nozzle Check Pattern is broken, missing, or a specific color is not printed, clean the print head.

1. Press the <Menu> button on the printers operation panel.

2. Press the left [<] or right [>] arrow buttons to select [MAINTENANCE].

3. Press the <Set> button.

4. Press [<] or [>] to select the cleaning setting you want. Select [HEAD CLEANING] for normal print head cleaning. Select [HEAD REFRESHING] for deep print head cleaning.

Note: [HEAD REFRESHING] uses more ink than [HEAD CLEANING], so perform [HEAD REFRESHING] only when necessary.

5. Press <Set>.

6. Print a Nozzle Check Pattern and perform at least two Head Refreshing if the pattern is not correct.

Cannon multipass F60 scanner/printer striped color printing

What you have is a dried up color cartridge. You can try to use the <clean print heads> in the diagnostic tools section of you priner software. (usually, just try to print something & the window will appear) Sometimes you have to clean heads, then print test page like 2 or 3 times before it clears up. If that doesn't correct it, don't worry. Have your color cartridge filled (staples, office depot, & other stores do it cheap) - or - replace it with a new cartridge. You may have to run the clean print heads program after installing a new cartridge, but this will definitely fix your problem.

Is the canon multipass f60 compatible with windows vista (on an hp laptop)?

Canon does not offer Vista drivers for the MultiPass F60. Vista may have some generic drivers that will work, so don't delete or over-ride them in the system.

The major problem is that the printer only supports USB 1.1 and not USB 2.0
