Magnavox 32mf337b/27 No sound. Checked all the inputs, volume, mute, etc. Get output from the earphone jack but not speakers.

I have the same problem and have checked all the same things. I even by-passed the cable converter box, and connected the cable directly to the TV with the same results. One additional piece of information - ever since this problem started, there is a number "2" displayed in the upper right hand corner of the screen. It never goes away, and I've been through all the setting trying to find out what it is. I can find no reference to it in the instruction manual that comes with the TV. I feel that this is somehow related to the problem, but I don't know how at this point. I am temporarily using the TV by hooking some computer speakers to the headphone jack, which IS working. Any help would be appreciated.

First have you went in menu and check audio to see if you are on the variable audio or external output? Check to see if this makes a different with audio jack hookedup correctly of course!

SOURCE: receiver works with digital signal input jack only.

Are you talking about the 6 channel input with all RCA jacks? Please explain a little better, it is very hard to know how you have it connected without a very good description since I can not put my eyes on it. You may need to check the settings, it may have the rears muted. More information from you will help me to be able to help you.

Excellent picture. Why no sound?

This has a lot of reasons, many of them obvious. Is the volume up? is the cables pluged in, is the MUTE on? is the sound source (external) working? try earphones if TV has phone jack. Get the manual and see if it has selection for differing sound sources, both inputs (like DVD and Aux) and software (like Dolby or other decoding). Also, some sets have coax (either fiber or wired) and they dont share with audio cables so they need to be selected as input. Get the manual out (or download it).

No Sound

Could be a sound problem in the set but first:

Are speakers for some reason switched off in menu?

Is (some have this) internal/external speaker select set to external?

Is volume on SET OR A BOX muted or turned way down?

Does the set have sound with a DVD etc. hooked via a rear audio/video input?

No sound

When my sound output set to off and I use the remote to change volume; it tells me speakers off.

Try a different output method: hook up headphones, other speaker type... these answers should help you find a solution.

RCA 52" Projection HDTV Ready Model "D52W26 (No Sound)

Maybe the sound is muted. Try pressing the volume up button to restore sound.
• If using S-Video or Y, PB, PR, remember to also connect the component’s left and right audio output jacks to the TV’s L and R Audio
Input jacks.
• If you're using the TV's internal speakers, make sure the INT/EXT switch on the back of the TV is put on “INT”.
• The sound settings may not be set correctly.

No volume

Have you checked to make sure that your speakers are turned on? Most rear projection televisions have both a physical switch and an interal menu option to turn on and off the built in speakers. The physical switch usually is located in the back near the inputs and outputs. It could have accidentally switched off. Under the menu options it may have been accidentally turned off as well.

No sound from a Philips model 60P8341...

Hello Jarvis1,

This is an indication that the actual sound output is working, but the amplifiers to the speakers are not. How you could take care of this is to check in there are any loose connections to the speakers. Then check if you have sound coming from the leads of the output stereo amplifier (You will need the schematic and an audio tracer/tracker to find this location and test for sound). I would venture that there would be no sound from the amplifier. If not you will have to replace the amplifier chip. I would suggest getting a qualified TV technician to perform this task. If you do have sound at the output of the strereo amplifier chip, then it might be a case of the earphone jack switch being broken, let me explain when you plug in your earphone the speakers are disconnected by a switch in the earphone jack if this switch is broken it could disable the speakers and produce these results. There is also the possibility that you have the speaks disabled from the menu of your TV (check this too, actually check this first).

I hope this helps,

Thank you,
