Kenmore Dryer Gas 110.73942101

Dryer will run for about 20-30 minutes and then shut off. Timer will go to 0 and clothes will still be wet. Is there a dry sensor in this model that maybe faulty or could the timer be bad???

Hi. thanks for the question. The problem you have is with a motor. it gets hot, and cuts off. pull dryer away from wall. clean venting. remove back panel, clean all dust. that will solve your problem thanks the appliance doc

Hello, I just replaced the timer in my kenmore elite model #11073942101, but this did not fix the problem. The timer seems to be very eratic one time you might set it for 50 minutes come back and it will...

Wet clothes are electrically conductive. As the wet clothes tumble, they touch the two metal bars in the drum.8ce8a4f.jpg There is a capacitor on the control that is trying to build up a charge, but when wet clothes create a short from one bar to the other, this charge is released to the frame of the dryer, therefore discharging the capacitor.9c13fc0.jpg As long as the capacitor charge is low, the control knows the clothes are wet. As the clothes become dryer, they short the bars fewer and fewer times. Once the capacitor charge builds to a certain level, the control knows the clothes are mostly dry, and it advances the program to the final timed portion, usually less than 20 minutes, some of which is a cool down portion to reduce wrinkling. If your dryer is eratic, that means the control capacitor sometimes ain't getting discharged. This can be due to a few different reasons: 1. Sensing bar wire is disconnected or broken; 2. Load is not large enough (remember the bars must be contacted repeatedly); 3. Bars are "coated" by fabric softener build up and need to be cleaned with Windex or 409. 4. Defective control board. 5. Airflow is restricted and moisture can't escape the drum.1986379.jpg 6. Corrosion built-up on sensing board connection.(yank out the board and clean the contacts that sometimes is all it takes) Address the airflow condition and load size. Clean the sensor bars and make sure the wires are all connected securely.

Kenmore Dryer 70 series electric-quit heating and timer wont shut

This link will help you in diagnosis/disassembly/parts.

Possibly a faulty heat element is most common failure. Fix the no heat problem and the dryer should shut off ok.
Make sure you have correct voltage to the unit before tearing apart. Again visit the link above

Kenmore Gas Dryer Gets Hot, Shuts Off Early in Cycle

Sounds like a faulty high limit or cycling thermostat. The thermostat tells the dryer to heat until the interior of the dryer reaches a certain temp. It should be mounted on the exhause duct inside the back of the dryer. It should look something like the one in the picture:

Hope this helped and best wishes.

Dryer runs but wont auto shut off

On auto dry cycles, the cycle is controlled by moisture sensing bars located on either the rear or front bulkhead, ( visible inside dryer ) if the moisture sensor bars are shorted together (normally by wet clothing) the dryer will continue to run. If the dryer continues to run when the clothes are plenty dry, check and see if there is anything stuck between the sensor bars, (sometimes a metal sequin will cause this) or see if they are damaged. If not, you may have a problem with a timer contact, if the timer advances and stops moving at the same spot each time, I would suspect the timer. If this is an EvenHeat dryer, examine the control board located to the right of the timer in the control panel, for any burned components. Hope this helps.

Auto Dry not advancing

It sounds like a timer problem since it happens during timed also. Some dryers don't have an actual moisture sensor for auto dry. They work by knowing that as long as the clothes are wet the temp won't go past a certain point. As the clothes dry it trips a thermostat that lets the timer advance. Until this is fixed DON"T trust the timer to shut off the dryer. Sometimes it won't or could leave the dryer running for hours. This has nothing whatsoever to do with fuses. There are no fuses in a dryer. Just high limit thermostats and other devices that will shut off the heat but usually not the motor.
