Question about Maytag Refrigerators

1 Answer

Icemaker is not working, There is not any water getting to the icemaker. Maytag has sent out there techs 5 diffirent times but I guess the only thing they know how to do is replace the icemaker itself. After 4 new icemakers it still doesnt work. Icemaker has not worked since I bought the refrigerater and now they say there is not anything else they can do for me. I have done a little diagnosing myself and have come to the conclusion that possibly the valve that splits the water to the icemaker and the water in the door is not working. Water works out of door. but when I stuck my finger in the water tray of the ice maker there is not any water in it.

I have the same problem and the service man came today. He replaced the old icemaker, but then no water was comeing into the tray. He then took out the new icemaker and reinstalled the original ice maker. It works however no water coming into the tray. He has suggested that the valves need replacing and is coming out again when he has the valves in stock. Will keep you posted.

THERE ARE TWO VALVES LOCATED AT THE REAR OF THE APPLIANCE ONE FOR THE WATER AND ONE FOR THE ICE.I TAKE IT THAT THE WATER DISPENSER IS WORKING OK AS YOU HAVE NOT MENTIONED THAT ITS ALSO GIVING YOU A PROBLEM.I FIND IT VERY STRANGE THAT MAYTAG TECHNICIANS CANNOT PICK UP THE FAULT IF YOU STILL HAVE NO JOY I SUGGEST YOU GO TO HIGHER MANAGMENT AND GET IT RESOLVED.BUT TRY AND LOCATE THE VALVE AND SEE IF THEY BOTH WORKING.GOODLUCK.MOHAMED

take the cover off of your icemaker and use a 12 ga wire about 4" inches long with the ends stripped an inch. use the wire as a jumper and stick one end in the hole labled N and the other end in the hole labled M for 5 sec and remove. turn your icemaker off when you turn off your water

ICE CUBE MAKER LEAKING WATER AT INPUT TO TRAY

I just fixed the same problem on a Maytag icemaker.... the aluminum ice tray had corroded (in 5 years!) so bad it had cracked the teflon coating. I took the icemaker out ( 3 screws, 1 electrical connector) and the thing would leak water sitting on the counter.

Ice cubes stick together as though too much water is coming into tray. Is there a valve or something to control amount of water coming in?

yes their is a water valve , 2 things it could be your valve or you i/m. the i/m tells the water valve to fill for about 6-9 seconds if the icemaker is bad it could be telling it to fill for 10 seconds instead of the normal time and overflow the icemaker ,or the water valve also called solenoid could be bad and at not stopping at the desighned time. i dont have your model # to go much furthur but you can remove the cover in the front of the icemaker and see if you see an icemaker water level adjustment screw, newer ge and frigidaire ref. cannot be adjusted, however wpl, maytag, and older ge ref can be and older frg.try adjusting water level at icemaker first .

The icemaker will not work

you might need to replace the icemaker or the freezer isnt getting cold enough for the icemaker to operate correctly. if freezer isnt getting cold enought for icemaker to operate correctly you should probably have it checked by a tech. if the icemaker isnt taking water you also could have a bad water valve

Maytag ice maker will not release cubes

Sounds like it has a " seeping " water valve . Only thing to do is replace the water inlet valve . There is a certain amount of water to go into icemaker at fill . A seeping valve will let water continually drip into icemaker , making large cubes which icemaker cannot dump . A larger amount of seeping , will overfill the icemaker , and drip into the freezer and floor .

Maytag MSD2756GEW went from hollow ice to no ice. Water dispenser works fine, good pressure, new filter, etc., fill line doesn't appear frozen. Replaced water valve to icemaker. When refrigerator plugged...

I assume the water valve you replaced is the fill valve located within the refigerator.

If so, I suggest that you check the saddle needle valve on your water supply pipe - (generally in the basement). It may have finally clogged up totally from calcium deposits.

Replacing it may resolve the problem. Even if it does not, you've spent less than 10 dollars on it and you've eliminated one of the possible causes.

Icemaker not filling with water

Try using an hairdryer or defrosting the unit completely , this often get rid of blockage caused by frozen lines fixing the problem.

The water lines can also be unblocked from dirt using a thin flexible shaft. This after defrosting.

If all that does not fix the problem, then you may need to replace the water valve, the icemaker solenoid, or the whole icemaker assembly.

guest make sure your wire arm on icemaker is down same dandcs also for orig poster they have duel water valves one goes to door water one goes to icemaker. icemaker works a general rule more than door water so wears out faster but you have to replace both as they are a unit .other things that will stop ice production are frozen ice fill tube ,bad motor module in icemaker .check that first .if that don't solve it then reply to me and we will get deeper
