My home phone has been out sometime between 9/16 and present (9/20). I called AT&T and the recording stated that due to the high volumn of calls from the hurricane and the flooding in the midwest, to report the repair on line. I went online and I need to have an Account Manager number or ID. After I requested this, it stated that I will receive it in the mail. What kind of repair service is this? Couldn't they have emailed it to me?

My motorola Model K704B is saying "no line in what can I do to fix it

The "No Line" message means that the base of the cordless phone either doesn't have power, the line is damaged or that the handset/base are not communicating properly. To diagnose the problem, first check that the base AC cord is connected to a good outlet. You may want to unplug the cord from both the phone and the wall outlet and then plug it in again. (I've seen a case where someone turned off a surge protector and forgot to turn it back on; without power, the cordless phone won't work.)

To check if the problem is the phone line, I like to use an old corded telephone. Plug the backup phone in and check for a dial tone. If there is no dial tone, try a new RJ-11 cord. If there is still no dial tone, try the test phone at another jack. If you can, find the box where your telephone line service comes in. Open the box and look to see if there is an RJ-11 jack. If that jack is present, try using the test phone and listen for the dial tone. If there is no dial tone at the service box, contact your phone company. They should fix this problem for free. (It's possible that rodents have damaged the phone line outside of your home.) If the box doesn't have an RJ-11 jack, you'll need the phone company to test the service and repair it if needed.

If there is a dial tone at the service jack, then you have an inside problem. If there was no dial tone at only the first jack, you can check the jack itself. Unscrew the face plate and look at the back of the unit. There are two types of connections. If you have the screw terminals, look for a disconnected wire. Strip a new section of wire and secure it under the correct screw on the face plate. See http://cablesupply.com/content/47-telephone-connections-and-rj11 for the wiring pattern. If the jack uses a keystone, you'll need a punch-down tool that is available in many hardware stores in the electrical wiring section. Do not strip the conductor; just push it down into the correct slot of the keystone. If the problem is not at the jack, you'll need to check all of the wiring from the service box for damage. Your telephone company will do this for a fee.

If the test phone had a dial tone at all of the telephone jacks, then the problem is with the cordless handset and the base. One of the two units is not communicating correctly (transmit/receive). If your cordless phone is still under warranty, contact Motorola. If only one handset can be used with the base, replace the phone. If your cordless phone can pair multiple handsets with the base and only one handset is giving the "no line" message, replace the handset.

I hope this helps.

Call forwarding

Call forwarding is a service offered by your telephone company, not a feature of any particular phone, and thus the procedure may vary from company to company. With many, you dial *72, then at the second dial tone dial the number to forward calls to. That phone must answer to confirm forwarding. To cancel, dial *73.

If you don't get a second dial tone after dialing *72, contact your telephone company to get their instructions regarding call forwarding.

What is cause of Buzzing dial tone

This phenomenon is the phone lines and phone instrument rectifying the RF signal from your cell phone as it communicates periodically with the cell sites. The energy is rectified (turned into voltage) by the phone lines and appears as a buzzing pulsing noise in the home phone. This will trash a fax completely. There is NO solution except to turn off the cell phone or orient it away from phones and phone lines sufficiently to stop the interaction. You could put hte phone in a RF proof bag (metalized film) which would then prevent it from receiving an incoming cell call. Either way, you lose some usability of either home or cell phone for the duration of the issue.

check Grounding Connection. Also check Security Alarm interface

Static (buzzing) on your line are produced from analog equipment in your phone system (your phone and phone cable). When the phone adapter receives the sound data, it digitizes the data and eliminates the possibility of producing static or buzzing. Try using a different phone or replacing the phone cable and test if that resolves the issue.

not hearing a dial tone.

If you do not hear a dial tone, please check the following:

• Make sure the telephone and VoIP telephone adapter are plugged in

• Disconnect and re-connect the telephone cable

• Make sure your telephone is set to ring (not set to pulse) If the above items have been checked, it is possible your phone adapter needs to be rebooted.

• Reboot your equipment as described in "Rebooting Your Equipment."

• If this doesn't work, try the solutions as described in "Calling Issues with Firewall/Router"

Take care..

Direct connect does not work it comes up '' no service'' some days it will work for about 10 minutes

Call Sprint/Nextel customer care. They may be able to get you back into the system by doing a master reset. Have the phone in hand and call on your home or business phone. If that doesn't work find the nearest service center and call. The will explain your repair options. Often the tech can either repair or exchange on the spot (given an hour or two, my shop got very busy). Please be patient with the techs, they know the phone is important but have to focus on one thing at a time. Regards, Don T.

How does one forward incomming calls on a uniden 2.4ghz cordless phone?

Cordless phones can not 'forward' a call to an outside line.
Forwarding must be controlled by the ATT, Verizon, or landline provider.
Please contact your provider to determine if you have call forwarding feature built into your service package.

Then, follow the instructions of your landline phone provider.
Here is the instructions for Verizon:

Activating Call Forwarding
You can activate Call Forwarding whenever you want your calls to be sent to another phone, including a mobile phone. Once activated, all your calls will be sent to the forwarding number you request. Each time a call is forwarded, you will hear one short reminder tone on your home phone, but you will not be able to answer the call from your home number.

  1. Lift your telephone's receiver and listen for a dial tone.

  2. Press star.gif7.gif2.gif.
In some areas you must use 7.gif2.gifpound.gif
Dial 1172 on rotary or pulse-dialing phones.

  3. When you hear the tone, set or change the Call Forwarding number by dialing the telephone number where you want your calls transferred.
You will hear the number you entered ring. When the number is answered, Call Forwarding is activated.

  4. If the call is not answered or the line is busy, hang up and call the number again within two minutes.
You will hear two short tones telling you that Call Forwarding is activated.

  5. Hang up the receiver.

I canot hear it ringing when anyone calls. there is a dial tone, and i hear it ringing when called from another line but no ringing on my end

Because you said you have a dial tone I'm guessing that this is a land line (home) telephone. Make sure that the ringer volume is turned up. You may have to search for it but it is located somewhere on the phone. Plug another phone into the same jack and if this unit work replace your phone(very cheap). Still not working then you may have a defective phone cable which must be replaced.

Hope this help with your problem.

We have no dailing tone on our eircom siemens 5010 house phone

Are you in the USA? If yes ... continue ... if no ... I can't help you, but you are welcome to read on, it may fit.

Disconnect a telephone (preferably one that does not require external power) and go to your DeMark (a gray box where the phone line enters your home). Open it up - you will need a screw driver. Inside you will see a RJ-11 plug in arrangement. Unplug it and plug your telephone in.

Does it work? Yes = you have a phone inside your house that is "off hook". Find it and hang it up. Can't find one off hook? Unplug everything on all telephone jacks in your house, computers, fax, telephones, everything. When the dial tone returns, plug the devices in one at a time until you find the bad device.

No, the phone does not work = Phone may be faulty (try another telephone)

OR,

... there is no service coming to your house. If you have a cooperating neighbor, take your telephone to their house and try it. If it works at their house, it has to work at your house. If your phone is known good and there is no dial tone at the DeMark, call your service provider.

Follow the procedures found in the front of your telephone book ... that yellow thing in the kitchen that no one uses ... that it the telephone book.

There may be other reasons your phone doesn't work ... but start with my suggestion. If the phone company comes and the trouble is in your house, it will cost you according to the current tarrif ... see the phone book for details on this.

Outgoing errors

Hi

Try and check if your settings on the barring calls is on, maybe you put it on by mistake, but also you need a code or password for it to effect.

Also check if your fixed dial settings are on they also have an effect on that.

Your network can be the problem. Try and call your telephone service provider customer care, its free
