Line reel will not stay in when I start the WG 150 spinning

I have had this trimmer for one year and replaced the line reel three times so far. The last time that I in stalled a new reel the reel will not stay in as soon as I start running the trimmer.Reel seems to have very little resistance when I try pulling it out of its housing manually. Is there somthingthat has changed since I replaced the reels the first time?
My name is Ron and my address is--lectric@localnet .com

Thanks much!

SOURCE: Line continues to advance and wrap around axle

I used a file to sharpen the line cutter which controls the amount of line. After sharpening the small cutter on the trimmer, the length of the line is now under control and now my trimmer works just fine.

SOURCE: The line keeps unwinding! The Worx trimmer seems

The spool can be defective, but it may be just affected by trash in the spool where it mounts to the machine. Look at this tip. There is a place at the end of it that explains how to clean and lubricate the spool. If you cannot fix the problem with this tip, replacement is probably your best option. Try it first.

Can not remove line reel, the knob just spins.

I'll send you a link to the operators manual. To change the cable, simply unscrew the bump feed knob anti-clockwise.

Echo SRM 200 series trimmer is great. I noticed though this summer once I reel in the new string, a short time of trimming later, only 1 side of the string appears. When I open up the reel, the string is...

For your machine, make sure you are using the Manufacturer's recommended trimmer line. For your model, they recommend using Echo brand .080" Cross Fire diameter line. You also need to insure that when you load the spool with the line, that it is loaded (in the right direction) so it can feed properly.

Line spins out from rapid loader and doesnt stay put. has happened with 3 units after using for a short period of time

I've been using these for years! It shouldn't happen after only a few uses! Make sure your line is at least 3/4 of an inch inside the trimmer head! If you have been doing that the teeth are clogged! Take it apart and use a triangular file to clean the teeth!

The line constantly comes out of the reel. I just bought it. Have not had an open face reel in years.

Your line is not taking the memory of your reel, therefore coming off trying to come to its original state. You could try braid fishing line, which has no memory, or go down on the pound test of mono filament line your using. First, before buying anything else you should try to tie your string to one of the eyelets and reel in until the line is pretty tight(tight as you can get it), and leave for a couple of days, it will start to take the memory of your reel spool. Hope this helped.

How do I reload the trimmer line?

Depending in model usually they sell a cartidge reel with line allready. If your handy savy! you may doit yourself. Turn your weed eater around make sure & carefull with your gas spills out. The reel usually locks counter wise pull it carefully and it pos out, the get the right line size, depending in the size os reel you could go a few rounds with line make sure that one ends come out one hole & the other thru the other hole. It just snap in the reel and counter closed to lock.

Which way do you wind up the trimmer line so it doesn`t hang up on the spool when you need more line?

The direction of winding is on the spool and/or in the manual, if the line is getting stuck here are some tips:

Use only premium quality line of the correct size and shape, do not buy the mega rolls that will last you a lifetime rather buy the small roll each spring as the line can get brittle and weaken over time.
Avoid winding the line tight like fishing line on a reel and while winding occasionally dust it with baby powder.
Do not fill the spool with line more than half way.
Practice running the trimmer only fast enough to do the job, running the trimmer wide open is necessary only to add power for thick weeds. Running at high RPM makes the gear head, spool and line to overheat which can make the line 'vulcanize' to itself. You will also find that running at half or less speed uses up much less line and will make the trimmer last longer.

If you find that much of your trimming is in high, dense weeds such as a ditch that gets trimmed three or four times a year you may want to invest in a different head that utilizes plastic blades that swing out when spinning, these are much better than they were in the past and work great by limiting the cutting to a smaller area, they are stiffer and cut heavy weeds better. I chose a trimmer with the strait shaft and quick-link so I can easily change from the brush hog, line or swing out trimmer. I use the line trimmer only in areas where a deft touch is required such as around trees, shrubs or other delicate plants I do not want to accidentally scar or damage.

Ryobi Trimmer

To install string in the Ryobi you do not have to disassemble anything: Line up the two arrows on the inner and outer reel, remove any excess string, cut two pieces of string about 10 feet, feed line in the side holes, secure line in hole where it comes out the bottom (it only takes about 1/4in. to do so), pull strings tight, then turn the inner reel counter clockwise to wind it. If it sticks a little just pull line a little.
To remove the inner spool in order to remove line that has broken inside, to clean the mechanism, or to perform other maintenance, grasp the outer reel and unscrew the bump knob counter-clockwise. Mine is often very tight and requires pliers to get enough leverage. While you are in there, clean the inner reel and the inside of the outer reel to improve feed performance. The shaft rarely needs cleaning. Do not lubricate. After re-installing the reel, add string (0.080") as described above.
