I have the same problem with my 3 year old whirlpool ultimate care II washer. It works totally fine until it gets to the end of the cycle, once it gets to the final spin it doesn't spin and wring out the clothes. Doesn't matter whether it is in gentle, hand wash, regular etc. If I take out all of the clothes and leave maybe 2 items in there and hand turn the agitator sometimes I can get it to work but not always. This is very disappointing. I can't believe I am already having problems with this and like I said it is only 3 years old and I take good care of it (dont' overload).I have the same problem with my 3 year old whirlpool ultimate care II washer. Many washer brands use a reversing motor. For agitation the motor runs in one direction, for spinning and draining, the other. It's possible for a motor to burn out in one direction and continue to operate in the other. If this happens, you need to replace the entire motor.
