NOT FREEZING PROPERLY

If your outer bucket is leaking down the liquid brine solution it won't freeze properly. The rival buckets are bad about leaking. You might try pre-conditioning the outer bucket before making your attempt at freezing. Just fill the bucket to the weep hole with water and let it sit for about half an hour, then pour out all but about 4 inches of it and start adding ice and salt.

I have a RCW ice cream maker. I m needing a new bottom band for the wooden bucket. Any hope in finding a band. Thanks

Try a very large hose clamp. The kind that has slots along its length and a screw mechanism that turns to tighten it. If you cannot find one that is long enough you can attach two or more together to get the length you need by unscrewing them completely and feeding the end of one into the mechanism of another. Another advantage is that they are stainless steel and will resist corrosion from the salt.

I need the directions for the Rival 8550 Ice cream maker

Fix Icecream mix as dircected on internet or where ever you get the recipe. Then layer ice and rocksalt around the out side of the aluminum can and then start motor.. takes about 20 minutes. or when can stops, but if you wait this long.. good chance of breaking the dasher ( mixing paddle). Note: if you have the wooden bucket, soak it in warm water for about 15 minutes to get the wood to swell and seal up.
