Question about Toshiba Computers & Internet
I have a Toshiba Satelite M10 laptop. Keeps having a system warning "A problem with the cooling system has been detected. PLease turn off ur com and return it for service"
That's not all. It is getting slow and laggy and the CPU usage is constantly at 100% !!
Furthermore, the laptop shutdowns by itself once in a while. Not sure if it's becoz it is overheating.
Can any one help me please?!!
If you DO NOT hear the fan running, have it looked at by a professional. Your fan may have died. If you can hear the fan running, blow out the fan exhaust port in the opposite direction of normal air flow. Especially on lap tops, the heat sink cooling fins become completely clogged with dust. When this happens the processor overheats causing it to run slow and eventually shuts itself down to keep from going super nova. You should blow it out at least once or twice a year. Also, if you use your laptop on the couch or in bed, place it on a hard surface like a cutting board or something similar that will allow air to flow underneath the computer. This will also help prevent dust from the cushions or blankets and such from clogging the cooling fins on the heat sink faster than usual. Remember blow it out in the opposite direction of normal air flow. You want to blow the dust out the same passage it came in through.

Chances are, one of your fans went out. Remember that you have 2 fans in there, one main fan and one cooling your processor. Once you find out which one it is, open 'er up and replace it w/ one that you can buy on ebay for around $20-$30.

Welcome to FixYa! Based on the error you have received, this means that the cooling fan of your laptop needs to be cleaned and checked at. This is a common problem with any toshiba laptop. I suggest checking the heatsink of your laptop. If the CPU heatsink is not clogged with dust and lint completely, you can use canned air and just blow it inside the laptop through the openings on the bottom and on the sides. It's nice as a precaution measure, but it might not work if your laptop already has a problem and the heatsink is completely clogged.
