Question about Computers & Internet

Lcm-17v8 monitor HEllo, My monitor staring to go white Friday night. I noticed it was much lighter than usual and tried adjusting contrast/brightness with no improvement. Saturday evening The screen would completely white out within a couple of minutes of working on it. If I turn it off and on it comes back up but only for a minute. This morning the white out is within a few second. I unplugged the monitor from the lap top I use it with. I waiting a few minute and plugged it back in and that did no good. I unplugged power to the monitor and that didn't help either. Any suggestions. I've only had the monitor for like 2 years at the most and certainly didn't expect it to go bad so quickly. Colleen

Hi,
This is a problem with the cable that runs from your laptop to the monitor.
Or the VGA Output socket, on your laptop itself.

1:) Try using the monitor, on a different PC Or Laptop.
2:) Toggle The LCD/VGA Button on the laptop. ( This should change the display Mode )
Sometimes you Have A fn key, on the keyboard. Press fn And LCD/VGA.
3:) Check that there is no damage to the cable from laptop to Monitor.
If none of the above work, it,ll be the monitor itself. faulty panel or invertor board.

How do I adjust the brightness? It's too much?

Hi,
By following these steps u can adjust the brightness

Step 1
Press "Menu" on your LCD's display panel (usually below the screen). Various display options will be shown on the screen.
Step 2
Select brightness from the options. This is usually indicated by a sun. Use the "+" and "-" buttons on your display panel to increase or decrease brightness.
Step 3
Select contrast from the options. This is usually indicated by an oval half black and half white. Use the "+" and "-" buttons on your display panel to increase or decrease contrast.

Thank you

I have a LCM-17v8 17in Monitor and it seems to be fading and then the screen goes white, any ideas on why?

Hello,

The internal power supply in the monitor is about to die. This is a very common problem with LCD monitors after 2-3 years of use. Check out the pages on monitor repair at our site: www.ccl-la.com We have the parts you need to do the repair and we will have a repair guide posted for your monitor by tomorrow night 01/06/2010. If you can solder then you should be able to do the repair yourself, it involves changing about 5 parts and a little soldering. If you don't want to do the repair, we do offer repair services. You can get more details at our web site.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

What causes vertical lines on screen, some lines are thick and some are thin and appear over the task bar, they are across the entire screen.

They are static lines. They can be caused by a variety of reasons, damage to your monitor, damage to your vid card (perhaps it was got a little too hot?), ive seen this issue also with overclocked, try resetting to defaults if so. Also try reinstalling/updating your current display drivers. If you have an integreated video card it could be that your motherboard got hot and perhaps damaged it. If you have a spare vid card or something else you can hook up to try, and it still has the static lines, then it is your monitor for sure.

VA721/Windows 2000 - contrast/brightness settings grayed out

The monitor is probably set to sRGB under "color adjust".

Change it to 6500K, which is default, and you should be able to adjust brightness and contrast.

Flyback transformers usually have 2 adjustable rods - 1 is for focus the other is for screen (G2) voltage. try turning Clockwise the Screen adjust with brightness-contrast at max. Till you see white diagonal lines, then go back until the lines disappear - then tune the brightness to your desired level.
