Question about Samsung DLP HL-P5663W 56" TV

Open Question

JVC HDILA yellow hue in parts of screen

I have a 56 inch JVC HDILA rear projection screen and over the course of the last 6 months a yellowish hue, that started in the bottom left quadrant of the screen, is now in a rectangular ring around the screen about 6 inches in from the edge, but still most prevelant in the bottom left. Anyone know what this is? Do I just have to replace the bulb or is it more of a problem?

SOURCE: Right 2 inches on edge of screen are darker than the rest of the screen

I have a 20 month old Samsung HLR5668WX/XAA that except for the left vertical 20% of the screen, the rest became very dark. I can make out the images behind it, but just barely. For the next few days, I turned off/on the set after a few minutes every time it happened and the picture came back to normal. Then eventually the problem became permanent. Thinking it was the lamp, I replaced it, but the problem still exists. In addition, for a few months, the set has been making an intermittent grinding noise that goes away when I turn off/on the set as above. Its frequency seems to be increasing. Does it sound like the color wheel is bad? The fan perhaps? Something much worse (crossing my fingers)? Please let me know. Thanx in advance. Tom

SOURCE: My 56 inch Samsung DLP keeps shutting off. I have

Once before I had this same problem and FixYa gave me the solution. When you replace the lamp door, there is a switch inside so be sure the door is put in at an angle so to hold the switch up. It solved my problem after numerous repairmen missed it.

How do I replace the color wheel in a Samsung?

The following link will give you a step by step on how to do so. I did so and it worked perfect If once you install the new color wheel the colors on your screen are reversed all that has to be done is pull out the TINY rubber looking thing with 2 pins in it under the yellow/white sticker, not 1 inch or 3/4 inch under the sticker. Right below the sticker where that rectangular opening is.

My JVC television doesn't turn on. When you power it up, 5 seconds go by, then the "timer" light flashes on and no picture.

The main power supply has either failed or is shutting down due to a downstream failure, the most likely place for the latter is the horizontal sweep circuit that produces the high voltage and the sweep that moves the trace across the screen. The most common failure in that circuit is often a failed 'flyback' transformer and/or the very fast, powerful, sweep transistor itself. Checking the transistor isn't technically difficult (they normally short between two of the three elements) but measuring the flyback requires some knowledge of what to expect and an inductance meter as a minimum.
If you can locate an old, still breathing, TV repair tech, I would even advise having it repaired since (check for yourself under "LCD," "plasma" or "rear projection") the modern sets will not last as long as your JVC did. If you get it repaired, put it in a dry place (with the digital converter if you have one) and keep it as a spare so you won't have to do without TV when the new 14-15 month-old set goes belly up.

Samsung 42 inch projection tv picture like watching coneheads seems to stretch

This is a symptom of a defective capacitor in the vertical circuit, but not usually with a DLP machine. Can you post the model number of your set please? I should be able to provide you with the part designation of the defective part once I get the model number.

Did you use the Automatica Convergence to try and straighten it out? If that does not help, you can manually adjust the convergence.

Good day.

The problem with your unit is that when your tube was replaced, it was not degaussed or demagnitized. The purpose of such is to distribute the color evenly unto the entire television matrix.
You can try to demagnetized it by rotating a magnet around the surface( but not so near) of the picture tube while it is operating.

Also, please check for the degaussing coil around the rear portion of the tube was returned and also check for loose contacts.

Mitsubishi CS-40707 Greenish/Yellowish Display

Yeah, I had mine checked for the same thing. The "blue" - There's only three - red yellow blue- portion of your tube died. Not repairable. Last I checked it costs at least $1,000 for a new 40 inch tube. Good luck. Mine went to the garbage dump!
