Question about D-Link (des-3526) Networking Switch

Open Question

DES-3526 problem Hi, guys... Our environment has 2 D-Link DES-3526 linked together by high speed ports. This morning I had a weird problem... one of them (the second one in chain) had every LEDs blinking (of course, the connected ones) in amber. Such blinking did not seem to be communications signs. It had a constant slow blinking frequency for a while, then every LEDs went off for a while also, then start blink again. All communication were stopped, even with the first one. The only thing occurred to me was unplug the power cable, wait some minutes and plug it again. It worked! So, my question is: what happened and why? Marcos, from Brazil

SOURCE: D-LINK DI-514 LAN Ports not working

  1. Connect a cable from your PC to one of the four plugs. Not the WAN port.
  2. Setup the wireless the way you want it.
  3. Then give this router a different IP, like 192.168.0.2
  4. Then you have to disable the DHCP server in the router (keep in mind now you have to set your desktop or laptop that is conencted to it to a static IP to still communicate with the router)
  5. Once this is done just plug you existing network into one of the four ports. Not the WAN port.
  6. It will now act as a wirelessa access point.
Althoug this is doable it is not recommended as this router is a pile of **** and the wireless is crappy.

I would suggest a dedicated wireless access point.

hello,

Please do the following on the pc with the wired card not working:

Click on start, then hit RUN, then type in it: cmd

and hit enter.

in the prompt that you got, type: ping 127.0.0.1

If you get a successful reply in the form of the below text, then your network card is working, if not, then the network card is burnt from the thunder storm.

Successful reply sample:

Pinging 127.0.0.1 with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128

Ping statistics for 127.0.0.1:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms

SOURCE: switch with 8 leds blinking (and not working)

You probably have to buy another switch. However, before you try that - the eighth most right cable - switch that out to see if it was a cable problem. That's an easy thing to try before you buy another switch.

I have a switch Dlink (DES-3026). All the status LEDs are blinking together with orange color. Is there any problem in that?

Blinking LEDs show data activity (Send & Receive) at the connected ports. So, there is no problem as long as the switch is performing well

Good Luck!

I have des 1008d switch running at 100 mbps.i want to get 200mbps speed full duplex.so please tell me how to configure this switch to get the full speed.

Hi,

D-Link DES-1008D 8-Port Ethernet switch is unmanaged switch which can only support 10/100 MBPS.

You need to replace the switch and the network adapters with a gigabyte switch and adapters to get more bandwidth.

I interconnect a D-Link DES-10160 with D-Link Gigabit Switch DGS-1024D network and my network becomes slow

connect only DGS -1024D to your network....it will be faster...
because DGS supports 10/100/1000 speed.... but DES supports only 10/100 speed...
connect DGS directly to your network and work with that... if you wish to extend the number of ports then connect the DES to one of the ports of DGS

and dont connect DGS to one of the ports of DES

D-Link DES 1024D

There is no configuration on the switch, this is a dumb layer 2 device. Plug in you PC's etc.. and go. The switch will auto detect the speed and duplex of the device connected to it.

The DES-3526 has a lot of features and it would be quite hard to teach you everything through FixYa.

I suggest you start by carefully reading the manual. Everything is very well documented:
ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Switch/des3526/Manual/des3526_Manual_500b27.zip

Then, once you have learned more about it, if you still have problems, feel free to write back and we will help you.
