Question about RIM BlackBerry Curve 8310 Smartphone
Same problem, wouldn't scroll down. Lifted the ring pulled out the rollerball and cleaned it with alchohol. Used a cotton swab, soaked it pretty good and rolled it around a bit. Set it back in and it worked like new. Watch how you take it out so you can put it back in the same way.

You can lift the ring around the roller ball and try to clean. It worked for me.

I popped the ring off of the track ball assembly, removed the track ball unit and cleaned it with a swap and alcohol. Problem solved! Be sure you put the track ball assembly back the same way you took it out.

The only way to fully get it up and running again is physically remove andclean (with alcohol) or replace the part. If you want somebody else to do it for you, goto Blackberry Trackball. If you want to do it yourself, here is a Blackberry Repair Guide that shows how, the part is available on Ebay.
