Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Model: Philips 32PW9556/05R After pressing the power button, the power light keeps flushing (in red colour, never changing into green). The same problems existed two years ago; we got the TV repaired by a local TV repairing shop (I forgot their contact details). I understand the problem is: the (power switch) relay got bad; so that relay got replaced with a new one. I think, the same problem may appear again now; the power switch relay may need to replace with a new one again. It seems that the same problem appears agaion now by the relay; so, where can we buy such a relay? how can we open the TV case to fix the relay? If this is the problem, that means that that relay may cause the same problem again and again in the future; so, is it possible to remove the power swich relay all together and replace it with a normal power on/off switch? Any advice will be appreciated! Thanks, Shicheng

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.
http://homenol.blogspot.com/
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.
Counting of number of blinks to Philips TVs is entirely different to that of other brand TVs. It is not a direct count procedure. The site have details about how to count the number of LED blinks [Fault Codes] to Philips brand TVs are given; along with details of the faulty circuit location.

SOURCE: philips plasma won't turn on first time

I have found this on a site and am in the proccess of trying to mend my plasma PF9964 as it started to take longer and longer until it stopped coming on. I've got the back off so I just need to un solder capacitors and replace. Here's the info I found. Bad power switch circuit General Comments If you have this problem with your Philips 32PF9964: When I switch the TV on, it appears as though it is going to start i.e the green light comes on, then after about 10 seconds it switches itself off and the standby light flashes red. It takes 10 /12 times before it starts and is getting worse. This is the solution: The problem is three caps. Change the cap 2663, 2664 both 100µ/25V and 2662,1000µ/25V. After you have changed them your TV will work again. You will find them easy if you unscrew the back on the plasma TV. Cheers, Mike

Panasonic DLP TV Bulbs

Make sure its an original Osram or Philips bulb inside the housing. If its a cheap lamp it will act this way. If it is an original lamp, then you may have a power supply issue. It shouldn't affect your TV but you may want to try resetting the lamp timer by following the instructions that came with the lamp.

TY-LA1001 Timer reset

While pressing the VOL- button on the projection display, hold down the number 0 button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds.

I RE FILL MY CANON MP145 USING INK MAN BUT MY PRINTER DID NOT READ THE INK STILL KEEP ON TELLING NO INK

Best solution i think
How to reset the Canon MP150 (also worked with my MP140 so it might work with others as well) after a refill (Step 10 concerns refill; instructions below the steps):
Method1 (Safe Factory Method):
1) Disconnect the printer's power outlet
2) Press and hold the power button while connecting the power outlet back.
3) While still holding down the power button, press the reset button twice.(red circle with a triangle)
4) Release the power button
Printer takes about 10 seconds to show the number 0.
5) Press + to change the value from 0 to 1.
6) When this value is 1, press colour button; this will light up two leds.
One is for plain paper and the other for photo paper. At this point is feed Printer with paper.
7) Press the power button twice and then press the colour button once. The printer will print a some stuff. Don't worry much about the printed material. I got some stripped lines and some numbers. I believe that my colour cartridge is clogged which explains why I got the green strips.
When you print this sheet the value in the display returns to zero.
8 ) Open Printer's cover cover (not the scanner cover) and remove the cartridges. With Printer still open, disconnect the power outlet.
9) Close the lid and turn on The printer.
10) Refill cartridges and place them back in their nice little abode in The printer.

The remote control will not operate the TV when the TV is in the OFF mode (No LED lit on front bezel). To change the mode from OFF to STANDBY or ON, press the POWER button on the side of the TV. Once the POWER button is pressed, the LED will change to either red to indicate STANDBY or green to indicate ON, whichever mode the TV was in prior to being turned off with the TV POWER button.

By pressing the POWER button on the side of the TV, the mode will toggle from OFF to either STANDBY or ON. If the POWER button is pressed and then the LED on the bezel is red, the TV is in STANDBY mode and will need to be turned on using the remote control. If the POWER button is pressed and then the LED on the bezel is green, the TV is ON.

Philips Model # 30PW850H37A Won't turn on

Likely power supply failure. This could be on a separate board that can be removed and repaired or replaced. Look for a smaller board with larger components that look like transformers and accepts the incoming AC line.
