This problem should be addressed by Gmail. It could be anything from something running on your computer/browser to an internal issue on their server. The customer service team at Gmail would be more then happy to help find the problem with you. I wish I could help more but I am a casual user of their mail services like you.
Always sign into any e-mail site your using directly from their web address in this case: www.gmail.com if at all possible.
When in doubt, just type the name of the site directly or use trusted favorites/bookmark links you have saved. If you are already doing this then Gmail Customer Service will need to help you further.
I tried everything suggested above and on other sites, which included updating time and date, cleaning history, cleaning registry, re-installing Chrome, downloading new certificates from Microsoft. Nothing worked. I went to my Antivirus Program (Bit Defender). Under "Privacy" find the switch for "Scan SSL" Turn switch off. Now Chrome works great!
You may want to try to use different internet browser to make sure that the problem has nothing to do with the security certificate. If you are using IE, you may download Mozilla Firefox. But if the same problem occur, try to use a public computer. Using a public computer, you can be sure that you are using a computer that's connected on different network.
But I think, the problem has something to do with the internet browser only.
Gmail could care less if you have a Unix PC, 64bit Vista or cell phone. It's something with the PC or connection. Have you tried it on another PC? What's the error message? There is a "less secure" connection it allows you to use if the login takes too long.
