Yahoo! mail problems

Okay folks I've solved this one. The one with the gext content is undefined error. It is linked to your Compuer security program. I disabled my Norton and then clicked on my mail. Got in and changed from Beta back to Classic. This worked for me and I hope it will work for you.

yahoo are coming out the front runner and route cause for these problems. They clearly do not see a problem as they have made no attempt to communicate and give their understanding of the situation; not even to acknowledge the problem which, to judge bt the noticeboards, many are facing. Any suggestions for an alternative as I do not want to be stuck like this again.

All I can say is keep trying... I had the same problem for two weeks but kept trying anyway. Once I finally got in, I immediately changed back from the beta to the original version, and deleted all of my old emails from the inbox, sent, and trash folders (to minimize the amount stored in memory) This helped greatly, but still somewhat slow and unpredictable. I still have problems occasionally, but I opened a gmail account and they have an option to "get mail" from another account so all of my yahoo mail goes directly to my gmail account. Eventually I will cancel my account with yahoo, but for now at least I'm getting the mail.

I think it might be useful to mention whether you are on Classic or Beta, because my totally uninformed theory is that they are taking servers off Classic and putting them on Beta in order to 'encourage' people to move over. As for being a free service - it's worth every penny!

Please remember that Yahoo email is a free service. This means it is a complimentary facility that subscribers do not have to pay for. While the Yahoo technical services will do all they can to provide a continuous product, the sevice must always be considered as a BETA service and as such you can expect various parts of it to cause problems on occasions. Yes, it's a nuisance an we all get frustrated by it when it goes wrong, but it is free.

Always allow 24 hrs when first finding a problem before doing anything. There are more people that have screwed up a system or messed up their settings by prematurely attempting to fix something that aint broke, than credit at your local bank. Try another computer if you can, if the problem is the same, it's probably no use fiddling with things and just be patient until the problem has been solved at source. Don't flood Yahoo with complaints, all it does is clog up the system even more, unless the problem is not resolved in a reasonable timescale.

Try clearing all your temporary internet files. Also remember that you can login from several different Yahoo login sites. For example yahoo.com or yahoo.com.au or yahoo.co.uk and others, so try using different logins.

Temporarily disable your firewall and antivirus to check whether they are blocking the connection.

Also consider that some viruses, trojans and harmful files can block your connection to email.

Never just rely on one account. There are hundreds of other free service providers. If you have booked a hotel room and have not received confirmation for example, email the hotel from a different account and ask for confirmation manually. hotmail etc.

Go to firefox and try to login, It worked for me.

i wasnt able to login to my yahoo for almost 2 wks..then i read somewhere about firefox..at first i wasnt sure then i did a little bit of research and finally switched to firefox from ie...i cant stop smiling..lol...i jst logged in m so happy that i can read al my mails now

The problem with Yahoo! Mail is a script for chat. The slant-eyed, pointy-headed gooks at Yahoo! were notified of the cause and refuse to do anything as they're pushing everyone to use their new and lame layout that is pathetically slow.

Switch to the new layout, then switch right back and fill out the feedback, checking every box as to the reason it's lame and tell them that they're "pointy-headed gooks" who should be deported.

The fix for Firefox is to go to: Tools | Options | Content and uncheck Enable Javascript and Enable Java. Then log into Yahoo! Mail. The never-loading Chat and Message box on the left is gone and mail is accessible as it used to be and should be.

I'm guessing that anyone that is having problems with their Yahoo or Google Email, has recently installed Internet Explorer 8 to their pc.IE8 prevents you from opening your mail, (after you sign in, or if it lets you sign in). This is not an isolated problem, everyone is having the same problem.

You just have to uninstall IE 8, if you have Vista, go to Control Panel, then click on System Maintenance, then, under Windows Updates, click on "View Installed Updates".(Search for IE 8 and uninstall) On Vista, IE 8 is an Installed Update, click on Remove, this will remove the IE 8 Update and convert back to your old version of IE. (Probably IE 7)

If you have XP, IE 8 is classified a Program, therefore, go to Control Panel, then under Programs, click on Uninstall a Program, (Search for IE 8 and uninstall)

If you're running Internet Explorer 7.0:

1. Close out of all instances of the Internet Explorer internet browser.

2. Select "Start", "Settings", then click "Control Panel".
3. Double-click on "Internet Options".
4. Select the "Advanced" tab.
5. Under "Browsing", remove the "Enable third-party internet browser
extensions" check box.
6. Relaunch the Internet Explorer internet browser.

If you're running Internet Explorer 8.0:

1. Click "Tools" and select "Internet Options".
2. Click the "Advanced" tab on the right.
3. Under "Browsing", remove the "Enable third-party browser extensions"
check box.
4. Click "OK" and close out of all instances of Internet Explorer.
5. Relaunch Internet Explorer.

You might try going into your firewall settings, and disabling "Ad blocking". If that doesn't work, please contact customer care.

I have this problem all the time. My email client is BT Yahoo, and this is NOT a free service! I even set up my own mail server at great expense to solve the problem, but unfortunately I still have lots of mail on the old BT Yahoo system. Its about time that Yahoo sorted this one out, or BT shitched to a new email system that actually works!
