My Kenmore range model # 790.9601 is acting strange. My stove would loose power when I opened my oven door, when I would shut it the range would buzz and then the power would come back on. It did this for about a week, it also does the same thing when i turn my oven light on manually. This week my stove won't work at all just the eyes on top. I unplugged the wires off the back of my board and plugged them back and the stove is working as of now, but the clock dims and the light flickers inside the oven.

On the bottom of the cooktop is a couple screws that hold it down...open the oven door and look up to the bottom of the stove top and you will see those screws

The model number on many ranges is located on a plate that is on the frame in front of the right or left front leveling leg of the range. To view this plate, pull the bottom drawer out. On some ranges, the model number plate is located on one side of the oven door opening. You may find it in this location on your range. You may even find the wattage on this label. Not too sure of the model, but on the 720 the grill will not operate unless the door is down (microswitch control - you can hear it operate when the door is shut/opened) and the overheat device has not operated.(Cooling fan has to be running)

The lock is operated by a solenoid and may have stuck due to friction or goo around the magnet core. Try bumping the stove or lifting it 2 inches in front and dropping to the floor. 2 inches will not break anything. There may be a mechanical timer in the self-cleaning circuit... is your gas stove still plugged in and showing signs of power such as ability to ignite top burners electrically? If the timer has failed the door lock solenoid is still activated and there could be a slight hum. Try unplugging the range and see if the door can be opened. The thermal interlock should be free to let the lock retract. If that works replace the timer motor. If solid state (no timer motor) replace circuit board with timer relay.

yes. open the oven door to the first "click". it kind of stops about a quarter of the way open. most ovens you grab both sides of the oven door and pull up. some models have a couple of screws you have to take out before you can remove the oven door. then lay it down with the insie of the door facing up and take out all the screws holding the oven door together. some may be on the sides or the top and bottom of the door. when apart, clean first with easy off, then clean several times with windex till streaks are gone. assemble door in reverse and put back on stove.

I finally found my manual to the range, and to change from celsius to fahrenheit press the BROIL button for 5 seconds. A tone will sound, and the temperature should switch to Fahrenheit.

As far as the code PF 5ab--it could be PF Sab which means the power went out during Sabbath mode. Try pressing and holding TIMER OFF for 5 seconds. If that doesn't work, then open the oven door, press STOP/CLEAR, press both the HOUR "up" and "down" arrow pad at the same time and hold for 5 seconds, "Sab OFF" should appear. Press START to accept the change, then close the oven door.
