Question about HP Printers & Copiers

Ihave a 2410x0xi all in one photosmart, I can no longer scan documents or pictures. I can no longer fax either. I think a setting may have been changed somehow...help? Thanks

    I have no listing for "scan" in my device manager, and the disc to reinstall my hp printer is damaged...help?

    I am assuming you mean the model # for the hp 2410xi photosmart printer? Two #'s not sure which is the model # but here they are MY3BCG30R1 the other # Q3083-60001. Do you need the model # for the computer? There are severl #'s, it is a dell and not sure which is the model

    I could scan from this method, I think I could fax as well, but I tried to fax myself (a different phone # than my home #) it said no answer..so I am not sure about this?

    Anyway if I don't have my hp disc for the software installation, would you please give me step by step on the add remove/uninstall, reinstall process...so I don't mess up anything. You can probably tell I am not real swift at this stuff..please be patient..thank you

Kindly open the control panel and used the open the scanner and see whether you are able to scan from there or not. (By doing this we are trying to use the feature without using the HP software)

The same way try to use the Fax feature under the control panel>Prnter and faxes.

If you are able to get the features working than the HP software is corrupter, which seems the case here.

In that case you have to uninstall the software from add and remove programs.
Delete the same from C> Program Files
than install it back again.

    Hello,

    well if you were able to scan that means the hardware and the connections are fine.

    Now it is the software which needs to be uninstalled and reinstalled.

    You have not mentioned the Exact model number however i am giving you the link to download the Software for your All in One assuming that you have "HP PSC 2410xi Photosmart All-in-One Printer"

    You may download the the software from here according to the operating system you are using.

    Now uninstall and reinstall of the HP software is not that easy.

    I am mentioning the method below which you may try.

    Step 1. Uninstall the HP from the Control Panel

    Start>Control Panel>Add & Remove Programs

    Here you will see a list of programs and you have to remove the HP relaterd Softwares. (If you are using a PC which is of HP as well, than you have to be careful and dont remove the HP software for the PC, remove the HP printer related software)


    Step 2. Restart the computer.

    Step 3. Remove the HP from the Program Files.

    go to My Computer>C Drive>Program Files

    Here delete the folders created for HP Printer. ( Once again if you are using the PC of HP you should be careful and delete the folder related to the Printer only)

    Step 4. Restart the computer.


    Step 5. Install the software.

    Now the software which you would have downloaded, install the same.
    Make sure that you unplug the printer from the computer while installing the software.

    During the installation the HP software will come on to a step where it will try to detect the printer and will say that it was not found.

    That is the time you have to plug in the printer to the computer.

    Once the installation is done. You should be use all the functions of the AIO.

    Even before you get into the uninstall and Reinstall. I woould suggest you to try a simpler step which is known as system restore.


    Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.
    3. On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Restore my computer to an earlier time (if it is not already selected), and then click Next.
    4. On the Select a Restore Point page, select the date when you think that the AIO was working fine, and then click Next. A System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that System Restore will make. Click OK.
    5. On the Confirm Restore Point Selection page, click Next. System Restore restores the previous Windows XP configuration, and then restarts the computer.
    6. The System Restore Restoration Complete page appears.
    7. Click OK.


    ****NOTE****
    All the software changes (Installation/uninstallation/updates) will also be reversed.


    This step should also fix the same and should be easier to do. You also do not loose data while doing the same.

First thing to check here if the scanner driver is installed properly on your computer to check taht do this , Right click Mycomputer icon>Properties>hardware tab>Device manager if you see the scanner there with an exclamation mark just right click on it then click on update driver and put the setup CD of your multi function printer to the computer to reinstall the software for the scanner...if still the same best thing to do here is to uninstall everything and just reinstall it back......

    Turn the printer off and then on. When the printer begins its memory count, press and hold down the Checkmark button until all the main LED signal lights illuminate and stay illuminated. Then release the Checkmark button, and use the Up/Down arrow keys to find the Cold Reset option, then press the Checkmark button again to choose that option.

Hi,

How are you scanning it ? From HP Solutions Center or HP Director ?

Try this step.

Open HP Director or HP Solution Center.

Under Settings you will find Pictures/Document Scan
Below you will find option like File Type : Choose JPEG or PDF

Save it.

IF this does not work, the best option for you is to uninstall HP Photosmart Essentials from Add/Remove programs ( or Control panel - Programs and Features )

But however, by default the pictures/documents are still saved in MY Documents - My Scans folder even if the Photosmart essential pop-up after you scan

When you install the Full Feature software for your printer, you receive the HP Photosmart Studio imaging software and the HP Utility printer management software. You can use either of these programs to scan, and can create custom settings in both.

In general, use HP Photosmart Studio to scan pictures if you want to edit them to adjust color, crop, remove red eye, etc. Use HP Utility to set up scan tasks you use often, such as scanning to a certain folder or software application, or attaching the scanned item to an email. If your printer has a display, you also use HP Utility to designate which scan tasks should appear on the printer display menu when you start a scan from the controls on the printer.

Make sure that the printer is connected to the computer. Turn it on. Place the item with the print side down on the scanner glass.

Use HP Photosmart Studio to start a scan: Click the HP Photosmart Studio icon in the Dock. Click the Scan button. Select your HP product in the Device Name list, if necessary, and then click Continue. From the Scan Profiles screen, click either Pictures or Documents. Click Profile Settings , and then adjust any settings in the Capture , Adjust , and Page Options (for documents) or Enhance (for pictures) tabs as appropriate. Click Scan. When prompted, select Yes or No to add another page to the scan. The scan preview opens then click Return to close the preview and save the scan. Type a name for the scan in the Save As box. Click the Format drop-down list, select the file format you want, and then click Save.

" no scan options refer to device documentation for trouble shooting"
you need to open up either solution center or hp director, go to settings, scan settings, then scan to set up and look for the option front panel destination a window should open to reveal scan short cuts and one titled front panel list. you need to select the shortcuts click add and once satisfied click on "update device".

How do I scan a picture from my HP (Printer*Scanner*Copier on to my PC


Hi,

To scan a picture follow the following steps :

1. Click on start then click on All program
2. Click on the HP , and then click on HP Solution Center 3. If you want to scan a photo then Click the on-screen Scan Picture "button" in HP Solution Center.
If you want to scan a document without document then Click the on-screen Scan Document "button" in HP Solution Center.

4. Set the option to prompt for settings each time you scan, and then click OK
5. At last click on Scan.

and save your file.

When I print some documents such as a book I am working on that has pictures of tombstones when it prints them (there are 6 on a page) it is just printing a partial picture like the top and does 2 or 3 of...


Go to "printer&faxes" on your start up menu.Click on your printer and in the left column you'll see "get pictures".Click on that and pick your preference.Click next and it will scan your document,then put it where you want for viewing.Works for me!

  • Click Scan at the bottom of the left pane.
  • On the toolbar, click New Scan.
  • In the New Scan dialog box, click the Profile list, and then choose Documents. The default settings for scanning a document, which you can use or change, are automatically displayed.
  • To see how your document will appear when scanned, click Preview.

    Scan image is not its actual size


    Check the following. Open your HP solution centre, settings,scan settings, Scan picture settings or scan document settings. on the right hand side youll get scan pic setting again and check the setting in that box. Check also settings print settings, printer settings, check here for print or scale size

    I'm trying to scan in a document and then fax it using HP Photosm


    Unlike most scanners, you must put the page that you want to copy in lower right corner of the glass (notice the small arrow pointing to the corner). This should fix any problem with an image being cut off. As far as faxing, I don't think the C3180 is able to fax pages. Hope this helps
