Layer3 is the Network Layer of the OSI Model, IP operates at Network Layer, OSI Model comprises of 7 layers, Application, Presentation, Session, Transport, Network, Datalink, Physical layers.

It is a model to follow when you are building Operating systems, applications to be used on the internet or compatibility with others.

Hope this helps

I need help with cisco asa 5505 ssl vpn.. ssl

The total sum of the Inside/Outside/ and pool address add up to 5,265. Subtract 10% and multiply by 260 to get the gender aspect of the original formula. Move the Network address to Google and download the residual code offered by the program that appears in the open window. Enter the code in the appropriate space provided and this will solve the problem by late 2015.

I am trying to games on PS3 and cannot connect with friends. I believe this is because I have NAT Type 3 (closed) and I would like to change it to NAT Type 2 (moderate) but I do not know how.

Hi ..

The PS3 has 3 different NAT types. They are shown below.
Type 1: The PS3 is connected to the Internet without a firewall or router. No NAT issues.Type 2: The PS3 is connected to the Internet through a router which is configured correctly. No NAT issues.Type 3: The PS3 is connected to the Internet through a router that needs configuring.Ideally, you want to have a Type 2 NAT. However, a Type 1 NAT does not affect your game play.

First of all you will have to Disable the firewall in the Router / Modem

If you are using a Router ..

Then

Make sure that UPnP(Universal Plug n Play) is enabled
Enable the IP Address of the PS3 in DMZ

Or Forward the ports

Below are the TCP and UDP ports that need to be forwarded:

TCP: 80, 443, 5223
UDP: 5223, 3478, 3479, 3658

For more details on port forwarding , log on to http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm

Hope it helps

How do u change me nat to open on my 360

1.Open the router interface page by knowing the default gateway of the router on Internet explorer
2.There would be FIREWALL, click on that option, and try to disable it.
3.Under the category FIREWALL, there would be a sub-category: Virtual Servers.
4.In virtual servers page, enable the following ports:
80 - TCP
53 - TCP & UDP
3074 - TCP & UDP
88 - UDP

4.Assign a static IP address on this page as well as on your X-Box
5.Restart both devices, it ll surely work!

Cisco VPN doesnt get connected through DI-524UP router. Worked fine until recently for both the laptops we use. Log indicates Receive: Purging stale cached fragment(s). Direct connected on the Motorola...

Cisco VPN
Upgrade your router to the latest firmware. You can download firmware at http://www.dlink.com.au/tech/ .
Disable all Firewall Software (ZoneAlarm, Windows XP Firewall, etc.).
Configuring PC running VPN Client Software:
Step 1 Disable all Firewall Software (ZoneAlarm, Windows XP Firewall, etc.).
Step 2 Change IP Address to be outside of the routers DHCP Pool (i.e. 192.168.0.99). By default the DHCP pool is 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.0.199.
Step 3 Configure Cisco VPN Client - Connection Properties.
Step 4 Check Enable Transparent Tunneling.
Step 5 Allow IPSec over UDP ( NAT/PAT).
Configuring Router using the Web-based configuration:
Step 1 Open the Web Configuration Page by entering 192.168.0.1 into your web browser. Enter username (admin) and your password (blank by default).
Step 2 Check the Status tab and make sure that you are running the latest version of firmware. If not, upgrade firmware before proceeding.
Step 3 Click on the Miscellaneous button on the Tools tab. Enable both PPTP and IPSec.
Step 4 Click Apply.
Step 5 Click on the Virtual Servers button on the Advanced tab.
Step 6 Enable IPSec from the list and configure as follows:
Private IP: IP Address of the PC running Cisco VPN Client
Protocol: UDP
Private Port: 500
Public Port: 500
Schedule: Always.
Step 7 Click Apply and then Continue.
Step 8 Enable PPTP from the list and configure as follows:
Private IP: IP Address of the PC running Cisco VPN Client
Protocol: TCP
Private Port: 1723
Public Port: 1723
Schedule: Always.
Step 9 Click Apply and then Continue.

How to connect to my PIX 501 and use Windows Remote Desktop?

Here's a real simple problem to your remote access problems.
Go to: http://www.logmein.com
Sign up for a free acct, download/install their free software on your Server.
Now go over to your laptop, login to your new logmein acct.
In the next page, you'll see your Server listed. Click on it - follow instructions to connect.
This will tunnel through whatever stuff you have on your network!
Trust me - esp. in your scenario, this is *by far* the *simplest remote connect you'll ever perform! And it just .... works! Everytime.

Ploblems with dmz-outside (webpage). pix

Remove this line:

static (DMZ,INSIDE) 10.10.0.0 10.10.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0

You don't need a translation going from a lower security level to a higher one. You will also need a nat line for the dmz so that pc's on the dmz will be translated outbound. The only connection that will work on the dmz is the webserver when he's sending traffic outbound with a source port of 80. Something like:

nat (DMZ) 101 10.10.0.0 255.255.255.0

Other than that, it looks like it should be working. You've got permission, a route, and a translation. Maybe "clear local-host 10.10.0.2" to get rid of any bad xlates and try again. Check debg level syslogs, run packet captures, "clear asp drop" then "show asp drop" after an attempt?

Layer3

Which model are you talking about ? I have included both

Here is the OSI model
Layer 1 = physical medium & signal on the wire (physical)
Layer 2 = MAC Address and SNAP (ATM) (data link)
Layer 3 = IP Addressing V4 V6 (network)
Layer 4 = TCP/UDP (RTP, RTSP) (transport)
Layer 5 = Duplexing Half or full (Session)
Layer 6 = HTTP, FTP, SNMP (presentation)
Layer 7 = Web browser, FTP Client, (application)

TCP Model:
Layer 1 = physical medium & signal on the wire (physical) (Hub and reapeter)

Layer 2 = MAC Address and SNAP (ATM) (data) (Switches and bridges)

Layer 3 = IP Addressing V4 V6,
Layer 4 = TCP/UDP (RTP, RTSP) (Internetwork) (Firewall, IPSEC) Routers

(This function is split between 4&5) Duplexing Half or full

Layer 5 = , HTTP, FTP, SNMP, Web browser, FTP Client, (application) (programs)

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Cisco asa5505 problem

You seem to have the last resort (o.o.o.o) set to VLAN1 which is set as an inside interface.
Is VLAN1 connected to the outside router or internet backbone?
If not, change the last resort to the outside Ethernet port.

NAT Traversal

NAT traversal refers to the common problem in TCP/IP networking of establishing connections between hosts in private TCP/IP networks which use NAT devices Client-based IPsec VPN connections often do not work when passing through a NAT device as the IKE and IPsec protocols were not designed to work through NAT. NAT Traversal is an add-on to the IKE and IPsec protocols that allows them to work when being NATed. NAT traversal is only used if both endpoints support it. D-Link products that currently support NAT traversal include the DFL-200, DFL-700 and DFL-1100. Note: The DFL-80 and DFL-300 do not support NAT traversal.
