The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour.

Otherwise, it sounds like your "defrost" key on the keypad may be shorting.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

In the UK, you can find Sanyo support, parts and authorized servicers here.

What doesl f2 mean on the display

The "F2" on a microwave can mean that the touch pad has a problem. Once I saw that message on a stove. The technician told me to press the "stop/cancel" button two times to reset the electronics. That fixed it. The electronics inside the microwave are usually timers and they adjust the strength of the microwaves for cooking. The best thing to do if the stop/cancel trick does not work, is to look at the owner's manual. If there is nothing there referring to that code, then copy the model number from the microwave (usually inside the door panel or sometimes at the back of the unit) and go to the manufacturer's website. Look for support, enter the required information and find out what the code really means.

Many times, it is better to let a professional take care of a repair on a microwave. If you leave something loose or not properly installed, you could endanger your health with microwaves hitting you improperly. Always be careful when working with this type of equipment.

Nothin works on my key pad

Here are lock / unlock schemes for three recent Sanyo models:

- Press and hold Stop/Cancel for 3 seconds
- Press and hold Stop/Reset for 3 seconds or so
- Press Stop/Clear five times

Hopefully one of those will work.

If none of these work for you, contact Sanyo Service Customer Service.
