Question about Pioneer DEH-P5800MP CD Player

1 Answer

No rear output

I have a Pioneer DEH-P5800MP deck and am not getting any output from my rear speakers.  They're 2 6X9's powered by an amp and connected to the decks rear output through RCA cable.  When i turn on the power to the car the light on the amp turns red but not green like it should.  I bought a new amp thinking that was the problem but that didn't change anything, the light did turn green but still no sound.  Also sometimes when i drive over railroad tracks or hit bumps in the road my front right side cuts out with no sound and eventually comes back.  I've checked behind the dash and everything looks to be plugged in.  I had all this put in a little over 2 years ago and just recently started having these problems so I'm guessing that its the deck.  Is my deck bad???

Hi Michael,

We will start with the pdf manual. http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/Manuals/130/130P5200HD.PDF

Next you will check all the speaker connection's so they are biased +- +-. Ensure your ground is correct at the chassis of the receiver to the frame of the car.

Here is the manual from Manual Labs another look. Pioneer DEH P5200 Manual

There is a reset on the speaker output located in the manual. Perhaps your speaker impedance is above the receivers digital tolerance. Bench test the speakers with other in place of the working site. Most of all situations are oversights or happenings when closing up the job site.

Audio adjustments at your finger tips to check that by the book.

The left rear poineer speaker will not work, all other speakers will work and all are hooked up properly but no sound will come from the left rear. How do i fix this? any secrets

you may have a bad speaker. try connecting a different speaker output to the speaker and see what happens. if it still doesn't work, you have a bad speaker. if it does work, that output is probably bad and the output ic will probably need to be replaced. there is also a possibility there may be bad solder connections inside of the deck.

Right rear speaker not working

Start by connecting it to one of the other outputs off the deck, say the left rear. If it still doesn't work, remove the speaker and connect it directly to the head unit. If it works, then it's the speaker wire, if it doesn't, it's the speaker.
If there are amplifiers installed, switch RCA cables left for right etc. and see if the problem moves with the cable switch, try the same with the speaker connections at the amp. This will narrow down whether it's the amp or the RCA cable etc.
Car audio problems can be handled by a process of elimination! Eliminate what it's not and you're pointed directly to what it is.

Prot. light at High vol. (forget Bass CD)

You may have the speakers wired for the wrong impedance.

How many ohms per voice coil?

How many voice coils per speaker?

If the speakers are DVC, are the coils of each speaker wired in series or parallel?

Are the speakers bridged on the amp or one per channel?
