How do I get Windows fax and scan back to my all programs listing? It was there in the past, however, since I dragged the icon from the all programs listing to my desktop I no longer have it listed in all programs its installed but just not listed in all programs. Also I can't complete a fax it will send maybe 2 pages of a 4 page fax and then shut down with a fatal error message. I'm running windows 7 and using an older internal modem that I removed from my 10 year old HP desktop computer and installed it into my new emachine ( Acer ) ET1352G-03W. If you think the modem is the problem what modem should I buy? I can connect just fine but I just can't complete sending a fax. Running Windows 7 64 bit

SOURCE: Modem Problem?

In order to really test your modem you need to call more than just 1 (your ISP's) number. If you are not getting 56k connects, you should try your modem with other local/toll/toll-free numbers. This is a list of some toll-free numbers, the 3Com "Line Test" Number (a toll-call), and links to various ISP local access number listings Setting up an account with a Free ISP is another way you can test and isolate modem/ISP problems.
1-847-330-2780 - USR Linetest number - this is a toll call; if you log-in as "Line Test" with a v.34 modem, it will attempt to determine if your line will support 56k connections.
1-847-330-4569 - US Robotics' V.92 Test number - this is a toll call; the server is a 3Com Total Control HiPer ARC running V.92 server side code that supports PCM upstream.
The following numbers use toll circuits but are free to the caller (as long as you don't log in):
1-800-245-3828 - (Canadian weather BBS)
1-800-590-4857 - (IBM Global network access # x2 and V.90 3Com Server)
1-800-784-3638 - (Netcom - supports V.90)
1-888-861-8490 - (MCI/Worldcom))
1-888-245-0113 - (AOL access x2)
1-800-716-0023 - (AOL alternate access)
1-888-296-3892 - (AT&T Worldnet accessV.90,x2)
1-800-638-1483 - (GTE Net access - V.90/K56Flex Ascend Server)
1-800-572-1959 - (Compuserve V.90,x2)
1-800-350-6885 - (Earthlink - V.90,x2)
1-800-853-7921 - (Earthlink - Flex)
1-800-534-7097 - (Earthlink - Flex)
1-800-304-4226 - (Shore.net - Flex)
1-800-320-4509 - (Ascend 56KFlex test line)
1-800-779-2966 - (Used to be MCI)
1-800-846-7562 - (Gateway BBS)

SOURCE: Agere Win Modem Driver Version 8.30.0.0 vs V.92

you have a v.92 modem even if it lists as v 90 just run a windows update,, look for hardware updates, , if none comes up for the modem you should be good .

the last update was to 8.30 for v92. .. v90 etc. . it wont make that much of a difference in speed. .. however

A phone line filter WILL make an amazing difference, having worked for a dial up isp before , trust me , they help alot. .. its worth 12-22 dollars from any radio shack or maybe even walmart.. . i've seen them in home depot as well but don't spend more than 25 dollars. .

"phone line filter" look for it on radio shacks website

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103593&numProdsPerPage=60&retainProdsInSession=1

the picture is accurate.. not sure of the description, that thing is not for two lines.. its a a single male end --- to --- female end filter no bigger than a permanent marker. .

good luck. . oh.. it should increase performance from say 34k to 48/56k orn your modem. .

good luck. . its the next best thing to having new lines put in... to your house.

or usb broadband from cricket.
