Question about Panasonic NN-S254BF Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Faulty magnetron re:NN-T704QFQPQ Panasonic microwave We have had the above microwave model for just under a year now (this is our second one in 12 months. The first one was faulty too and had to be replaced). The microwave doesn't always heat our baby's bottle properly and recently developed an intermittent habit of "sparking" and "crackling" from the magnetron. Even though it is still under warranty, the shop we purchased it from have looked at it and told us that the magnetron is faulty because we must have run the microwave without anything in it!!?? They say it is the only way the magnetron could have been damaged?? However, we haven't run the microwave in this way, either deliberately or inadvertently......would you know if there could be any other reasons the magnetron could have got damaged? Cheers

I would contact Panasonic about this and tell them your story.

That is one way it can happen, but things just fail, too.

Otherwise, we servicers would not be in business.

You do need to be sure there is no grease or food particles stuck to the inside of the oven or stuck on or behind the waveguide cover.

You can call Panasonic at 1-800-211-7262 or visit here.

If your model is NN-P295, then the service manual is here.

You can order Panasonic parts from
Encompass here.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Most microwaves have a thermal cutout or thermostat on the magnetron, on the top of the cooking cavity, and often on the floor of the oven or above the bottom cover.

Panasonic NN-P794 NO HEAT this thing will run for 18 seconds only, then shuts off. Everything else works fine. Is it worth fixing?

Have you unplugged it and allowed it to reset itself? Sometimes the wire comes undone to the magnetron, that could be the answer. It is is bad (magnetron) it could be melted and dangerous to use. A bad magnetron is too expensive to repair. Also, another possiblity is the metalic shield may need fixed or replaced (about $20.00). If it's under warranty, take it back.

H98 error message. Micowave not heating, stops after 37 seconds

HI. in most cases, this will lead to a failed Heating device(magnetron tube). It would be wise to check the Magnetron cutoff fuse to be sure of its integrity. if the fuse is blown, simply replace it. if the fuse continues to show continuity, replace the magnetron.

(((The fuse is located inside the unit along side the magnetron)))

Panasonic NN- A712 combination Microwave 1000w - Switches off after 20 seconds

The 22 seconds is the giveaway.

In most cases, this is a problem with the inverter or a bad magnetron.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

I would recommend that you contact your nearest Panasonic-authorized servicer.
