Backup network configuration

Dear support

i am running broadband via fibre and would like to run a bakcup network using wimax linked to my linux ubuntu server using an alvarion T1065 modem. my server has 2 network cards, how do I configure the modem to run as a backup network such that when there is a power cut and my fibre link goes down it maintains the connection.

Hi. This is alot of info, but here goes.
1. Make your ubuntu up-to-date and install necessary packages.
Code:

# update & upgrade ubuntu
sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude full-upgrade

# dependencies
sudo aptitude install build-essential ia32-libs linux-headers libnl-dev

# library libnl 32bit version manual installation
wget http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/poo...1.1-5_i386.deb
ar vx libnl1_1.1-5_i386.deb
tar -xzvf data.tar.gz
sudo cp ./usr/lib/libnl.so.1.1 /usr/lib32/
sudo ln -s libnl.so.1.1 /usr/lib32/libnl.so.1
sudo ln -s libnl.so.1.1 /usr/lib32/libnl.so
ldconfig

2. Download WiMAX Network Service 1.4.0 from http://linuxwimax.org/Download

3. Extract files from archive
Code:

tar xjf WiMAX-Network-Service-1.4.0.tar.bz2
cd WiMAX-Network-Service-1.4.0/

4. Build & Install
Code:

# configure
CFLAGS=-m32 ./configure --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var --mandir=/usr/share/man prefix=/usr/local --with-i2400m=/usr/src/linux-headers-`uname -r` --build=i386
# do kung fu :)
for i in `rgrep CFLAGS\ = . ' grep -i makefile ' grep O2 ' sed -r "s/([^:]*):.*/\1/g"`; do sed -i "s/CFLAGS = -O2/CFLAGS = -O2 -m32/g" $i; done
# build
make all
# install
sudo make install

boy i hate this post when it changes things to what it thinks it should be,
try this one sir

sudo cd ./usr/lib/libnl.so.1.1 /usr/lib32/

cd is for change directory

thanks for not getting upset during this, and good luck.
I truly hope that I covered everything in it, I think I did though.

How to connect s5233s internet on linux

use network manager to configure the network connection via phone. Right click on NetworkManager and select Mobile Broadband, click on add button and create a new device.

Once the device is setup, click on it and edit. Now add your phone number (mobile) in username, and password field. Now your device is ready to use.

Connect your mobile to the computer, click on NetworkManager, and select the device you have set up. That's it!

I bought a cricket broadband device for internet servoces and i tryed to hook it up to my ps3 via usb in the front of my ps3 and it dnt work what am i doing wrong?

Ok-here is your problem, the broadband card (any broadband car for that matter) needs to have drivers and software installed to function- And the ps3 does not allow you to install 3rd party software or drivers - The only way you can use a wireless broadband card ona ps3 is to install linux on your system and use your ps3 as a desktop PC, however the ps3's ability to run linux depends on the model and age of your system, newer slim units (from what I have read) do not support the "Other OS" feature of its predicessors , I own a first gen 80gig with reverse compatability, and run linux (its cool) however I havent had any hands on experiance with the newer systems. if you have a home pc you can buy a router (you have to buy one that supports USB cellular broadband devices-so do some research to make sure you get one compatable with your card) and once you have your card configured to the wifi router you can use the ps3 wifi and get online that way- Bummer I know but I went through the same ordeal using an altel huwawei broadband card

Cant get a signal on xbox live via a D-link wireless router & Virgib broadband

virgin use fibre optic, make sure that your router is for CABLE connections, not ADSL.

Check that uPNP is enabled on the router, can your xbox find other things on the network? at what stage in the process does it fail?

TAPE LIBRARY PROBLEM

As I understand it, the SNC is basically a Fibre/SCSI Bridge... and what you are seeing is the FC light being on means that the SNC is connected to the Fibre SAN... but there drives aren't connected to the bridge. Check out http://downloads.quantum.com/scalar/S24/omUsersGuideSNC4000.pdf for information on how to connect to the SNC and run the discovery process. You'll most likely have to connect via serial connection, and the document I included does a great job of discribing that process. I'd suggest that you request an IP Address from your IT folks beforehand, so that you can configure it on your IP Network whaile you're at it.
