How do I stop my T620 server is making high pitched beeping noise

Usually a beeping sound is due to a hardware failure, often the RAM not being read depending on the pattern of the beep. If you're comfortable with doing it, open the case and try re-seating all the power cables to the motherboard and the memory. Make sure you disconnect the power cable and flip the switch on the power supply on the back before opening the case.

I checked the manual (link below) but didn't see any mentioning of a beeping sound. It has a long list of error codes towards the end of the manual, so see if any of those are displaying.

Well, if it was faulty it would detect it on POST (power-on self-test)
and beep. So, you could start by making sure that your display monitor is working ok by plugging another system or laptop into it, or plugging a known good monitor into your barebones system.
It's only a start, I know, but you have to know that the display works and not just assume it does.

Pc turns on but no display on monitor

It sounds like the screen refresh rate is set to high. Try to plug in a monitor that you said works with the computer. If you have windows xp:

1) Go to the Control Panel
2) Select the Display icon
3) Select Settings then Advanced in the right corner
4) Select the monitors tab
5) change the screen refresh rate to 60

Click OK twice and close the control panel. Power off the pc and then change the monitor to the original one. Please let me know how this works for you!

Start Up

O.K. Try this:

Turn the power off at the wall, Pull the GF card and flash the BIOS (refer to manual to locate JP1 move the jumper so that it covers the central pin and the previously exposed pin hold for three seconds and return to origional position). If you have altered any VGA jumpers put them back in their origional positions. Reboot using the unboard graphics card.

If it reboots with a nice clear beep from the onboard speaker and gives U a dsiplay we are on a winner if not we have a more involved problem.

Please please note: NEVER HAVE POWER CONECTED TO YOU SYSTEM WHILST YOU ARE ALTERING ANYTHING PHYSICAL INSIDE THE TOWER JUST DONT AND TAKE STATIC PRECAUTIONS.

O.K.: Lets just say you rebooted with display, reboot again but this time breaking into the BIOS (usualy either DEL, F2 or F10 being struck repeditaviley on boot untill the BIOS comes up). Search thru the the BIOS options untill U find one that alows u to disable the onboard VGA and often u will find one that alows u to enable the Advanced Graphics Interface depending on the manufacurer this may be a default setting that if u disable one it automaticaly enables the other or it could be called something different but u know what I mean.

O.K.: Time to check the manual if there are any onboard jumpers or such to disable the onboard VGA switch them (fairly rare for a number of years but possible). Reinstal the GF gently but firmly have stumped myself many a time and seen others do it whare a card or component feels sound but is not properly seated.

Moment of truth reboot using the GF. I this works.

If on boot u either get a string of continuous beeps or no beeps at all u have a more serious problem and a more lengthy solution. Primarily unplug everything from the MB, reinstall the CPU and the minamum amount of RAM, flash the BIOS and reboot. No beep, no display no boot back to the manufaturer/ supplier for a replacemant under warranty.

O.K. u got a beep u got a display - now it is time to start installing each component individualy starting with the minimum amount of RAM and ending with the rest of the RAM untill u can identify which component is stopping your system from starting. Identify the component get back to us and it could be a realy easy fix. You never know I once had a machine that I "fixed" worked perfectly on my bench but failled when the client got it home - finaly got the shits, striped it completely and found a loose screw under the MB that mooved every time he transported it after a fair bit of swearing I just had to laugh.

Good luck
