Question about Goldstar GVR-E455 VHS VCR

1 Answer

Goldstar GVR-E455 VCR can not be turned on

I love this old VCR, but it stopped turning on. No power.
I hoped to replace the fuse -- that would be easy.
Can not find the fuse.
Is there any somewhere?
What can I do?

Thanks for any help.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Everything works fine, replaced RF tuner, fixed carriage elevator, but whenever the VCR is powered on, it tries to eject whether a cassette is in the device or not. Any thoughts?

Try cleaning the mode switch with Servisol Video 40. When you fixed the carriage also, you did get put it back right, in the correct position, otherwise the VCR will think it's in the wrong mode, even if the mode switch is fine!

How do i hook up my old admiral vcr to my new rca flat screen tv to tape american idol?

Do both have Scart sockets? If they do you can get a scart lead. All you have to do is set the VCR to the AUX setting that the scart is on and press record!
You won't be able to watch another channel though whilst recording. If you are using the scart socket for say DVD (on the TV) you can get one of these:fa1357d.jpg

Remote control for Goldstar VHS will not work.

How do you know it's not the VCR that's not responding? If it this remote, you would be better getting a Universal one, as replacements are often very expensive.

In the setup menu there will be a screen that lets you change from <AIR> to <CABLE>. When that is done, do an automatic channel setting or programming. That should do it. If you have trouble leave a comment and I'll follow up.

Are you playing the movie on the DVD or the VCR?
Why is the DVD plugged into the outputs instead of the VCD inputs?

Goldstar KMV-9012 (year 1990) TV/VCR Combo

This is the problem with these combo units. When the VCR has trouble (this sounds like a mechanical one) it inhibits the TV from working as well cause they share the same power supply. It needs a VCR expert to fix ya up.
I tell people all the time not to buy these combo units unless they really need the conveinience cause you get to throw away the TV when the VCR goes bad.

Replacement Remote Needed

you might try http://www.replacementremotes.com/store/prodthumbs.cfm?categoryid=121. or, you could possibly obtain a universal unit. As you probably know, the low cost universal ones may not have the advanced programming functions, such as timed record. Perhaps a higher dollar one would. Beyond this, Ebay, Google search...
