Does the chager cord look damaged in any way? If not then it is probably the plug in the computer.

Does it only charge with a certin charger cord

Depends on the make and model. If it is a DELL then there could be an issue. With that in mind the most common problems are the power cord to the plug in jack for the computer or the jack inside the computer. This is really true if the cord was pulled on or the computer fell on the cord side while plugged in

My compaq is power on for 2 second and off , how to fix is thank you

You need to print this out-on someone else's computer. Hope it works for you!
Remove the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord from your Compaq Presario F700 laptop, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to discharge any residual current inside the Compaq Presario F700 . This clears your RAM and is like a hardware reset. Replace the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord and turn your Compaq Presario F700 laptop on.

Boot in "safe mode". As it starts up press F8, the computer ask you if you'd like to start in safe mode. Highlight "safe mode" and press enter. See if your laptop is booting up ok .

If your Compaq Presario F700 boots ok, do the following,

Try System Restore first,
Start Menu->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore. Choose the most recent date before you the encountered problem. If it doesn't work, try the next date.

If System Restore does not fix it, as a last resort, you might need to fdisk, reformat your laptop hard disk clean and reinstall OS, that usually fixes all bugs. Before going that route, try following,

Uninstall unnecessary programs and applications.

Scan with a antivirus program

Scan with a spyware/malware program

DEFRAG C:

CHKDSK C:

Clean up and repair registry problems with registry repair software of your choice

If the problem persists, did you check if it could be your Compaq Presario F700 laptop power cord or power source problem? Defective or insufficient power supply might cause error messages that are misleading. Take the battery out and power on your laptop with the charger only. Make sure your Compaq Presario F700 power jack and charger plug tip are securely connected. Did you notice the power jack loose? You can find laptop power jack on ebay. Fixing and soldering the power jack requires professional skill though. The charger green/blue LED should be on. If not, replace the defective charger. Compaq Presario F700 laptop battery charger, especially its power cord/cable, lifespan is limited and does not last forever, consider buying a lifetime warranty charger online from company like www.topmic.com

See link here to troubleshoot the no power on condition, and see link here and here for checking ac adapter for damage and replacement.
Try removing the battery, disconnecting the ac adapter, and pressing the power button down for a few moments to discharge the unit. Then reinsert the battery and perhaps it will power up...But better to replace that adapter & perhaps have a local technician take a look at it to remove the broken pin before you cause any further damage to the system....
Good luck!

My computer is not opening b/c of the battery chrager accepter from the computer side is not accepting the power properly

Ya laptops run out of charges within hours,so if you plug yours into the socket and get the power properly you can switch the laptop "ON" after the battery runs out.

first check the socket and do plug into another socket check whether its receiving else its the problem with the charger cuz even the other end of the charger may have the problem that we may not no .

There are two parts to charger.

1- Plug to charger box
2- Charger box to computer

the box is a power converter.are you getting power to the box ?

1)if not, as the BOX charger concerned you should give only to your company for service .

2)when the problem lies in the computer side tip.you can give it to service at local shop but my advice is to get a new charger.cuz this problem keep on bugging people.

Dell Inspiron 6400 charger not always working

u r very correect its the time for new 1 to be bought. u can get the new 1 from radio shack websites. and also dont try to use that faulty charger again as it can possibly blow the laptop electrical parts internally due to any over power short circuit.

Acer aspire 3500 wont hold charge or turn on

I had to buy an new ac/dc plug piece off of ebay (cost only like $3 bucks) to sodder onto the mother board of my Acer. Somehow the little plastic/metal piece you plug into your computer comes off the mother board really easy. Acer wanted me to purchase a whole new mother board (at frigging $350), which, frankly wasn't an option. So I bought the little plug gizmo, soddered it on, and I'm doing good now.

My compaq presario v5000 shut down and wont restart

Depending on your Bios Version I think later then V44 fixed a bug that would cause your computer no to start if the battery was dead with the V5000. Remove the battery and try booting from just AC power.

I have also had the same issue when my bios battery is loose or dead. The battery can be accessed from the memory area. Once you open it on the left should be memory and on the right will be the wifi card. You don't need to unplug the cables just remove the wifi card and examine the battery. The battery is held by a very very flimsy piece of platic and really easy to break. The best thing I have found is using a little piece of cardboard from a box or something and using it to keep the battery tight, just dont go shaking the laptop alot and it will hold it. It might also be possible your bios battery is dead.

From what I say I would hit power it would power for about 3 seconds the power light would flash then turn off.
