My Optoma projector ep721 has tiny dots all over the screen. The lamp life exceeded sign came on so I replaced the bulb but the dots are still there. What do I do to make them go away?

I have a Optoma EP721. It now projects verticle lines on the screen background. How do you eliminate the verticle lines ?

Hi,
It sounds like you have a projector which is in need of professional repair. You should eliminate source material problems first though by checking the projector with alternative input sources, ensuring that you also check the cables, and various inputs on the projector.
If the lines are present on all the inputs then the fault is internal to the projector. This will require professional repair. The first point of contact should be Optoma at www.optoma.co.uk/support.aspx (UK) or http://www.optomausa.com/ (USA). They should be able to give you an idea of ow much it may potentially cost to have your projector repaired and (most importantly) check whether it is under warranty. Most Optoma projectors ship with 3 year warranties these days.

Lamp bulb indicator is red and unit will not light up

The ambient temperature in the room is to high.
Try lowering the room temperature. If that doesn't work
get a small fan and place it near the projector to provide
extra cooling. The projector is running border line on
high temperature and just needs a little extra cooling.

Also, check and clean the air filters.

Optoma projector overheat issue - fan comes on but switches off

Most projectors have air filters. Yours may need to be removed and cleaned. No air flow = overheat.

Ive had my optoma ep721 projector probably for likle 2 months and

1 of 2 things happened here. Either the power supply is spent or your lamp ballast is busted. In either case it would have to be opened and repaired professionally. may cost upwards of a new projector, so look around for a decent shop and have them test it. If you dont mind me asking, if you decide to get rid of it would you mind selling me the lamp cheaply. Doesnt matter if its burn out, just need the glass from the bulb if its not broken. Hope i helped.

OK, found the solution on the net, you have to use the buttons on the projector instead of the remote to access the menu item.
