I have the same problem! did you find a solution?

  • mickyman Apr 26, 2009

have the same problem, I also found if i DIDN'T use the fan the oven increased in temp, but as soon as the fan was used the temp went to about 100. if i used the top element only i could get the temp up higher.

Exactly the same - oven won't heat past 100 degrees. Think it may need specific knob position combinations but don't have a manual.

Sounds like the thermostat is faulty but odd that both ovens fail to the same degree. It would probably be worth having the thermostat tested. Our IAG IOM6SE2 had the beeper volume go to a quarter volume - perhaps a similar problem. It is under warranty but IAG are not too keen to fix it. They first said, if it is a setting then we will bill you, and then, if it was caused by a power outage then it is not covered. (How can you tell?) They also suggested we claim against our home insurance. I have tried to find a service manual on the web, but no luck.  If I had a circuit diagram I could be of more help.

It sounds like the thermo-coupler is not engaging if it is a gas oven.. If there is an element on the bottom of the stove, and it is not glowing red, then the element is bad and must be replaced. I am thinking this is an electric oven. Control Module is a possibility on both, but only a real service person can check that out with the proper tool. Have you checked to make sure that the temperature for the oven is set higher?

Should the lower oven heating element heat all the way around? The heating element in my oven only heats and glows red on the front and two sides, The rear part of the element never glows red.

This is probably normal. the element has a fine wire inside the tube that you see and depending on where it starts in the tube it will start glowing from there.

Oven not heating up light ok fan ok

hi Lorraine. Thanks for choosing fixya! Usually, when an oven won't bake, it's because the bake element is burned out. The bake element is the black, pencil- thick tube at the bottom of the oven. When the oven heats, the element glows red. This element has an expected life-span of several years. It may last for only one; it may last for many more. When the element burns out, you need to replace it.

My Dacor ER36D wont heat after self-cleaning. What should I do?

Okay, I'm not a service tech, but I fixed this very same problem with my double Dacor oven. My wife self cleaned the bottom oven and after that when we tried to use it, the oven would only stay at the pre-heat (135F) level. My oven is electric, so I flipped the breaker switch at the breaker box in the garage that powers the oven...I didn't want to get electricuted. I opened up the oven door to the bottom oven. Where the latch sticks out there is a grill held on by 4 screws. I took the grill off and using a flash light I found the silver looking "thingy" that is mounted behind the oven latch mechanism. There are two black wires coming from this "thingy." On the right face of the thingy there was this little red button. I pushed it in till I heard in snap back into place. I believe this silver thingy is some sort of heating safety switch. Pushing the red button back in apparently resets the switch. I put everything back and turned the power back on to the oven and it has been working just fine ever since. I hope this layman fix can help the next guy.

Fef369cgsd frigidaire oven

What do you mean by, "properly"?
Is it heating or not at all?
Is it not hot enough, or too hot?
Upper element is for broil. It may come on briefly during bake, but usually at half power. It doesn't glow red.
Does the bottom element glow red? If not, inspect lower element, which is the bake element, for pits and rough spots. These may be signs of failure.
UNPLUG STOVE!! Remove bake element and check for continuity. If it shows open, replace. You can probably take to parts store and they can test it for you.

Top element in oven not working

This "top element" is your broil element. It will only get red when broil is selected.

The cooker stays warm when mains cooker switch is on.

Either teh grill element or the oven heating element is fault or the thermostat or grill regulator, locate which element is warm, if the grill then it is most likely the regulator, if it is the oven it is the thermostat. Engineer
