Samsung HL56186W Fan question

I saw that you have posted an answer on the forum about this. I am getting this message on my screen that says "Check Fan #2". You mentioned that you cleaned the 2 cooling fans. Where are the fans? I found the 1st fan but not the second fan. The only fan that I found was the fan in the center once I took off the panel. Could you tell me where the second fan is? Thanks for any help!

Thanks I will check this out. Do I have to remove the Lamp assembly to get to the fan?

  • fredwilson05 Sep 16, 2008

I looked all around the tv yesterday and couldn't find the second fan. Do you remember if the single slide out circuit board you are referring to located on right side of the tv? or the left side of the tv that the audio/video inputs are located? Once again thanks for your help.

It's been a while since I had to clean the fans, from memory, there was a small fan close to the base of the removable lamp assembly, and the larger one with a shroud directing the airflow round the lamp.

Hope that helps.

The fan assembly is all mounted on a single slide out circuit board, I removed the board as I found it easier to get at the small fan.

  • Compfranon Sep 16, 2008

It was the right side of the tv, remember this is a different model so it may not have the same board. If you have checked ALL visble fans, cleaned them - then thats all I expect you can do.

Sounds like The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

My samsung model# un40eh5000 has small black lines across the top5 inches of the screen. Is this a bad screen panel?

Can be. First of all try to replace the TCON board . If its work then ok. if not the panel would be faulty.

Check whether Va & Vs voltage come to the display panel, from the main power supply regulator board. If not, the SMPS board [power supply regulator board] is faulty.
