Question about Toshiba TheaterWide 52HM84 52" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

No video, shuts off then back on

Turned the set on and there was no picture, just sound. After about 15 seconds the tv powered itself off and turned itself back on. It just keeps doing this over and over until I power it off myself. I've tried unplugging it and plugging it back in with no help.

I have the same problem, only while we were watching there was just a loud pop noise and the screen went black, now when we turn on the TV it does the same thing your TV is doing, the audio comes on but now video. Did you replace the bulb? If so, how and where did you replace it?

I replaced the bulb two weeks ago and it's starting to do the same thing again. The tv powers up and I only get audio, then the green light starts flashing. The tv then powers down and tries to restart itself. Is there something else I need to do when replacing the bulb?

I checked Toshiba's website and found the manual for the set. The self restarting was indicitive of a lamp failure. The red light was solid while the green light blinked. It would then restart 8 times before both lights would then begin blinking.

Panasonic TC-P42X1 acts like it is turning on, the screen turns black, then the tv shuts itself off and back on again.

Rule out any loose contacts in power outlet, RC Jack, cables and connectors. The problem described by you calls for opening the back cover and further investigation, which should only be done by a qualified service technician.

Sounds like bad capacitors in nthe power supply, or maybe a regulator in the power supply. Have a tech take a look at this TV set for you, as there are no user replacable parts available in the TV set. Good Luck

the relay is the safety protective device..sometimes a defective component or something. maybe an overloaded power supply might caused this problem..so before any thing could gets worst..the relay will shut the unit..

You either have a cold solder joint in your horizontal deflection circuits or your or in your horizontal output circuit. please be careful due to the fly-back transformer still holds power even unplugged until you discharge it.( ground it out). Hope this helps.

Samsung tv turning off by itself

I had a similar problem where my 61" Samsung DLP was turning itself off very frequently I had resolved to try replacing the bulb. I called a local TV repair place to see if they had my buld in stock. The guy I spoke to actually told me how to fix my problem! There is a little blue switch behind the bulb access door. The inside of the door has a little piece that presses the switch down. The switch is supposed to work correctly weather the switch is in the up or down position but samsung forgot to take expansion from heat into account. If the switch is held in the upper position by the door and the plastic expands to a certain point, it triggers the set to shut off. This does not occur of the switch is held in the lower position. What you need to do is take the access door off and put it back on by sliding it into position from above. That will hold the switch in the down position, eliminating the problem. My set has not **** itself off ever since.

TV turns itself off after a few seconds, no picture at all

As far as fixing goes, you might as well get a new TV... Unless its a LARGE EXPENSIVE HOLY $%^# TV, It will cost more to fix, than to just buy a new one, unless its under warranty, which being an older model as that (or so im reading) It may not be covered.

Try unplugging the TV, and while unplugged, hold down the power button for a full minute (yes, with the plug NOT in the wall) after a minute, plug it back in, and try. Its a hard reset. If it still does not work, and you've tried different outlets, It's probably a repair issue, and you'll need to get someone to fix it, or just junk it :-/

When you let it sit for approx. 15 minutes it will come back on and usually stay on. I've also noticed that the color will fade in and out at times. during 15 mts of your sitting do you get sound & less brightness then problem in video or luminance section. if picture is dim & color will fade in and out at times then possibility of crt is getting less voltage on g2. if set is old then there is a possibility of crt getting weak. but if the above things are not there then problem in power supply. good luck
