I want to uninstall adobe reader 8 - Computers & Internet

What if, in add or remove programs there is no REMOVE button for Adobe. Further, when you use the uninstaller in from the start menu it won't un-install correctly it comes back with a missing file error.
Re-installing over the top (which often works) when un-installation files are corrupt doesn't work - it simply installs a SECOND version of ADOBE.
    -
The Installation CONTINUES to work however i'm caught in an update error loop (that's why I started the whole un-install process to begin with).
    Strange bx

SOURCE: Adobe Acrobat 8 error 2711

Sounds menacing but it’s fairly easy to fix.
Heres how to fix it:

  1. Download msicuu2.exe (Windows Install Cleanup Utility) from Microsoft, or by clicking on the file name.
  2. Run msicuu2.exe
  3. You will then get a message asking if you wish to roll back the in progress installation. You do.
  4. Install Adobe Acrobat or Reader 8.

Adobe’s more intrusive way of fixing it:
  1. Click Start>Run, type in regedit then hit enter or press ok.
  2. Back up your registry (not actually mentioned by adobe but a good idea whenever you’re about to make changes to the registry)
  3. Look for Key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\Inprogress
and delete the key if it exists.
  4. Install Adobe Acrobat or Reader 8.

When trying to open adobe reader 8.1.1 get following message: patch package could not be opened. verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify...

it sounds like the application that is needed to uninstall the version 8 is corrupted or missing. Try reinstalling version 8 first then uninstall it before loading version 9. If you can reinstall version 8 and it asks you if you want to repair or install, choose install to get all of the files back before uninstalling it again. Always uninstall from add/remove programs. If deleting it from program files instead of uninstalling it correctly it will cause problems.

My Adobe reader 8.1.1 will not open. I get error message that the patch package file is damaged and cannot be fixed. I am unable to uninstall Adobe Reader 8.1.1 and cannot Install 8.1.2 nor any patches....

Hello there.
This problem happens often. Please try the following steps to resolve the issue.

1) Restart your computer.
2) When the machine first starts again it show some white text on a black screen, before the Windows logo appears. Gentyl tap the F8 key repeatedly _before_ you see the windows logo until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
3. Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.

Now that you're in your computer in Safe Mode, go to your Control Panel and select Add/Remove Programs and chose Adobe Reader 8, which should uninstall properly now.

Hope this helps.

You can certainly uninstall any older version of Adobe Reader and install latest Adobe Acrobat Reader. Download the latest version from Adobe Website for free.

Can't upgrade adobe reader from 7.0.5 to 8.0.2. says that i need to verify the patch package

You may have to do a clean install instead of upgrade. Download a copy of ver 8 from adobe.com, uninstall ver 7, and install ver 8.

I am having a problem with Adobe Reader 8.1.1. I am using Windows XP. Originally the program ran fine, but lately when I click on a link on a website that uses Adobe Reader I get a message that says...

do you the original installer of your adobe reader?

if you..when uninstalling adobe and the error occurs just browse for the .msi in your adobe installer and hit ok...

after it uninstall...download foxit reader and install it instead of the adobe reader....

hope this helps
