2WIRE wireless router/DSL from AT&T

Here at home, we use the 2wire ethernet/wireless router/DSL to connect to the internet wirelessly with two computers(a laptop & a desktop ), the desktop using a Belkin Wireless G Desktop card. The desktop runs XP, the laptop, Vista. How can I configure it so we can share the printer wirelessly? The printer is in a seperate room hooked up to the laptop where the 2wire is located.

Yeah, but how do I access the printer so I may print? It's not a wireless printer, so how do I set it up so I can print while its hooked up to the laptop from another room, via the wireless 2WIRE?

I had a little trouble with setting it up even after I followed your every step, but I got it to work as I had hoped it would. Thanks!

I can fix it. You need a print server for your printer with usb or parallel cable port on one end and ethernet port on the other end. Connect the print server to router and printer, install necessary software driver it comes with and you would be all set. I have connected 1 usb and 1 parallel printer with router.

I hope it helps. My m/cs are identical to what you have as far as OS goes

Unless this is a wireless enabled or lan RJ45 connectable printer you cannot, the pc that the printer is connected to must be on at the time of the printing.

Wireless printers have their own arial and allocated ip address, Lan RJ45 connective printers can be connected to the router.

your question was "How can I configure it so we can share the printer wirelessly?"

this means a wireless printer, you mean share the printer on a network, on the laptop go to start>network, then in the folders on left click printers and then click on printer properties and select share this printer or right click on your network icon in task bar>network and sharing centre and click printer sharing in network and discovery.

Then go to your XP pc and open the printers folder on programmes or in control panel, select add printer, then choose network printer>browse for a printer and then it should be discovered and the drivers installed.

Have SBCglobal with 2wire but want N wireless capability

Follow the dots -

2 wire DSL wire to back of DSL modem.

Ethernet cable out of DSL modem, to current router (if you have one).

Ethernet cable out of current router (if you have one) to new Wireless N router.

If you currently have a wireless G router, keep it, or, use the new Wireless G/N router alone. You will need to set up all security settings again if you remove your current router, and if the new router is N only, you will need to make sure all your wireless connecting computers have wireless N cards in them.

CAN A 2WIRE DSL ROUTER WORK WITH A CABLE INTERNET CONEECTION

The 2wire dsl modem/router cannot be use with a another cable modem , since this 2wire device is also a modem/router and its made for the DSL conenction that's why it wont work with Cox cable, the best thing that you can do is to ask Cox to give a wireless modem/router like this 2wire so you can still use the wireless connection of your computer..

Hope that helps..........

Can i connect a 2wire 2701hg-b with roadrunner cable internet ? I had the 2wire dsl with at&t but recently disconnected the service

It is possible but it may not work as a router (2 wire 270). The 2wired router only has a phone port and ethernet/usb for computer connection. So if you will connect the roadrunner modem to the 2wired, you can connect it to the ethernet port of the 2wire, but the 2 wire will not function as a router any more. It will work just like a wireless bridge. This one setup that you can.

2wire Wireless router not working w/Comcast cable modem

Its almost impossible to connect a 2wire DSL router with a Cable modem. They dont go hand in hand.
Although you can connect the outgoing ethernet wire from the modem in the last ethernet plug on the back of the router and then have the ethernet connections coming from the router. But not wireless. and if you find a way, contact me at jneal2k9@hotmail.com

Lost Ethernet and Wireless Connections in Modem

I've not used one of these 2wire boxes before, but I believe the default router's address is 192.168.0.1. Try this instead of gateway.2wire.net to see if you can gain access to the router. This is just the starting point, but see if it works.

Here's a link to, what I believe is, the router's manual.

Before you rate this please let me try to help some more. This could be a multi step process...
