Question about Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6600SBT Top Load Washer

Whirpool Cabrio Top Load

I was getting an F51 message everytime that I washed a load. The book said to push cancel and start and if it started not to worry about it. I did that and haven't gotten the message in several days. Now, my washer is leaking water underneath. I've tried to watch the cycle and it looks like it's either coming whenever it's filling or washing. It's not a lot of water, but enough that I'm concerned. Where do I start? I've had this washer for a year and a half and really don't want to buy a new one if I don't have to....

Ok take a deeep breath and exhale slow. For both of you I believe it exists to be in the process of having a ccu failure. The part is w10201186 for most models and is currently on back order. For the guy with leaks what you want to do is verify the leak. The first action we take is to get a metal putty knife and where the top lid meets the front panel of the washer is a seam. Take this knife and insert one inch at the middle and slide until you feel it stop. This is a clip and the other side has one too. We need to use the knife and push in the clip about 1/2 inch and lift that side a little, then repeat on the opposite side. As your load agitates and does the rinse and spin lift and observe the water. If the agitation is throwing the water out you need the updated board and washplate, It will solve 80% of the F 51 problem as well. For the second person F1 means to replace your ccu board as it is faulted.

Washer shows the code "F" 51. I looked in the book and it just said if I hit cancel and it comes back to call for Repair. What does it mean though?

It is very common on this washer.Basically the F51 error is
due to the rotor position sensor error. The two parts realy needs
to be replaced.
1.rotor sensor itself
2.the control board

Whirlpool washing machine - F51 code

F51 - This is a motor Rotation Positioning Sensor failure. If this persists you will eventually need to call in a service engineer to repair it as the machine will eventually stop working altogether.

Cabrio top load flashing F51

Was a far easier fix for me than all this RPS sensor hunting. For my Maytag's F51 error, there were socks lodged between the inner and outer tubs, causing too much friction on the motor. This led to the computer reading poor performance of the motor. Please consider trying this easy fix before calling out service personnel or replacing circuitry!!! I spent hours under the machine messing with the motor and circuitry until I looked up at the translucent tub and saw stray laundry stuck where it shouldn't be.
* Open the lid. Turn the bottom agitator by hand. Give it a good push. It should continue rolling on for several turns. If not, there is laundry stuck between the tubs causing friction.
1.) Pry open the metal case lid. Take two flat head screwdrivers and wedge them in the crack about 6 inches from the left corner, and use them as levers to pop the metal lid, then the right corner. Lift up the metal case lid and lean it against the wall.
2.) Take off the plastic ring that bridges the gap between the inner and outer tubs. There are many little catches all around the perimeter of the outer tub that hold on this plastic ring. Find those catches and put outward and upward pressure on those to release the catches.
3.) Look down in the gap between the inner and outer tubs for stray laundry. I used a retrieval tool (Lowes 403255) below to grab the socks. There were especially several socks in the back right corner near the pump inlet. Run the drain and spin cycle and look again. There were more strays hiding that I nabbed the second time!
4.) Snap the inner cover on by lining up all those catches and seating them. Snap the big metal lid back on by aligning and giving a good downward thump. Run the machine and be the hero, and don't be too mean to your wife about tossing those socks down in the crevices. Half hour and $3 for the retrieval tool is far better than all that RPS mess.
