It may be that you have set it as extended desktop and not clone.

Widen the screen on Westinghouse tv

Screens are controlled by ASPECT RATIO.
Monitors can have 4:3 16:9 and 16:10 ratios.

You are doing 1 of 3 things.
  1. You have a regular monitor and the tv and are duplicating the screen.
  2. You have a regular monitor and the TV and are extending the screen.
  3. You have just the tv connected.
Your video card has to have a screen resolution that meets the tv's ratio to have the tv take the full screen.

If your configuration is 1. the tv will only match the monitor resolution, so if you change the screen resolution, you may get bars on the monitor, and the tv will go wide screen.

if your configuration is 2. the tv is controlled independently and you can select it to change its resolution to an appropriate aspect resolution. *this requires that your video card gives you the correct screen resolution for your tv. not all displays will work.

If your configuration is 3. the tv is the only resolution that is being pushed and just adjust the resolution til the screen is filled in.

To adjust the screen resolution, right click on the desktop where there isnt an icon and select either Properties (windows xp) or Screen Resolution (windows vista, 7 and 8).

if you have 2 screens press the identify button and it will put a number on each screen. click the appropriate screen and go to the resolution dropdown below. Change, apply and if it doesn't look right, revert and try a different setting. if you try them all and it won't take up the full screen, then the video card can't push the video resolution your monitor wants.

Computer connected to tv but only plays movie on computer not on telly

First make sure the computer is correctly connected to the TV. Once you are sure the connection is okay. You will need to use the following key combination to configure the settings:
Windows Key + P.
You may use the setting that suits your needs. Please note duplicating the displays might not be a good option if your PC monitor doesn't support the maximum resolution your TV can support or vice versa.

Won't go into sleep mode

Which operating system ?

Sleep mode on a Windows 7 PC saves power without you having to turn your computer off and without losing any work.

This option cuts the power to your monitor, powers down the hard drive and pauses all functions until you awaken the computer from hibernation.

Whether you have a laptop, desktop or workstation, putting your computer into sleep mode will lower your electric bill and save money!

Click the "Start" button in the lower left corner of your desktop. In the lower right corner of the Start menu, next to the "Shut Down" button, is a button labeled with a small, right-pointing arrow. Mouse over the arrow.

The Shut Down menu appears.

Point at "Sleep" and click on this option.

Your Windows 7 computer goes into sleep mode.

Wake your computer from sleep mode by jiggling the mouse.

There may be a delay of a few seconds before your hardware powers on.

All of your open programs are still open and your work is intact, just as you left it before the computer entered sleep mode.

Configure your Windows 7 PC to go into sleep mode automatically when it is not used for a certain amount of time.

Click "Start" and select "Control Panel." Click "System and Security."

Click "Power Options."

A menu opens.

Click on "Choose when the computer sleeps" and select the number of minutes of inactivity. You can also set a separate time interval to put your monitor into sleep mode.

If you set both to 10 minutes, then your PC and monitor will automatically go into sleep mode after 10 minutes of inactivity

Your Computer in sleep mode

First, save all of your work. Information in computer memory is not saved while your computer is on standby.

From the Start menu, select Settings, then Control Panel, then Power Management.

Click Standby Beside When I Push the Power Button.

Push the Power button.

Automatically Putting Your Computer on Standby

Save all work before leaving your computer.

From the Start menu, select Settings, then Control Panel.

Double-click Power Management.

Set the times that you want your system to go on standby, to shut off the monitor and to shut off the hard disks.

Click OK. Your computer will go on standby according to the schedule you have entered.

Putting Your Computer in Hibernation

From the Start menu, select Settings, then Control Panel.

Double-click Power Settings.

Click on the Advanced tab.

At the When I Push the Power Button On My Computer screen, click Hibernate.

Click the Power button.

Hope this helps.

How do i connect my laptop to my dynex tv?

This depends on your hardware. If you have HDMI port on your laptop and on your TV it is the best and easyest option for your case. Just plug-in the hdmi cable, go to your computer Control Panel->Display and configure the second monitor as extended. Your TV must be monitor number 2 and you should use recommended settings for the picture resolution.
From your TV go to input source list and select the HDMI port.
Now you should see your desktop background without the taskbar and icons. So you can drag and drop the application you want to see on your Dynex TV(secondary monitor) and that's it. This method will bring video and audio just with one cable. Of course you can use VGA port on the Tv, but the quality of the picture will drop and you must have separate cable for the sound.

I have a problem with my computer emachines j4501 desktop pc windows vista home premium..after the windows logo the monitor turn blank...but the cpu is still on.... what will i do...

If you can see the windows logo screen both your computer and monitor is working, possible problem could be that the display settings are set to high that your monitor is unable to handle it. Restart computer and keep tapping F8 key. This will take you to the advanced options menu In the list of options here choose enable low resolution mode and hit enter (you can only use your keyboard to choose - use the up / down arrow key) once you enter windows low res mode change it to 800 X 600 and restart the computer Once you are in the right mode now change the display settings accordingly.

I have an HDMI Cable how do I connect my computer to my Plasma TV

Your laptop has to have an HDMI output and the tv has to have an HDMI input. Put the tv on that HDMI source inpput, the laptop will sense the new device and install a driver for it, which is your video driver. Your video driver has to be capable of driving two monitors. The best bet here is to update the video drivers. When it senses the TV, the tv will show what the computer monitor shows and windows will ask you if you want to use the tv as the primary or leave the setting as they are and run both monitors. Whatever you choose, when you power down either the tv or the computer the computer will sense the change and revert back to the default settings.

I do not my computers oprated

Hi,
You have easily operate your computer. The steps given below....

Materials Needed:
- CPU
- keyboard
- monitor
- mouse
- speakers
- printer
- Operating System Step 1 :- Prior to powering up the computer system, make sure that the power cord is firmly connected to the back panel of the CPU and is plugged into the wall socket. Step 2 :- Check if the video cable is firmly screwed to the port of the video card with the other end connected to the back panel of the monitor. Step 3 :- Make sure that both the keyboard and mouse pointing device are securely plugged to the back panel. Also, check if they are connected to the correct port by checking on the markings. Steps 1 to 3 are essentially easy to do because aside from the mouse and keyboard devices, other components can only be plugged into their proper ports preventing the novice user from interchanging them. Step 4 :- When all connections are secure, start up the machine by pressing the power button normally located in the front panel of the CPU. Step 5 :- Depending on the configuration of the machine, a username and password may be requested; otherwise, the Operating System may be loaded directly to display the desktop to the user. Step 6 :- Other basic operations that can be done include adjusting monitor settings in Step 8. Installation and launching of software is outlined in Step 10. Navigation of the file system is detailed from Step 15. Step 7 :- The proper way to shut down or turn off the computer system is by clicking on the “Start” button and choosing the “Turn Off Computer” option. This will display the options to “Standby”, “Restart”, or “Turn Off” the machine. Step 8 :- To adjust the monitor settings, right click on any blank portion of the desktop and select the “Properties” option from the context menu. Step 9 :- On the “Display Properties” window, select the “Settings” tab to adjust the resolution of the screen. The “Themes” tab will allow the loading of pre-designed Windows themes. The “Desktop” tab provides the way for changing the color of the desktop as well as the displayed wallpaper. The “Appearance” tab provides the various options of changing the behavior of the windows, icons, and other elements of the platform, while the “Screen Saver” tab shows the option to allow the monitor to go on standby or display animation. Step 10 :- To extend the functionality of any computer system, software is normally installed into the local hard drive. A software installer may be through some media like a CD or DVD or from being downloaded from the Internet. Step 11 :- For CD or DVD installers, insert the installation disk in the CD or DVD drive of the machine. This will be automatically read and launched by the Operating System. Step 12 :- When the installation process is initiated, a new window will normally be displayed to the user. Majority of newer installers provide either a default or an advanced installation procedure. In most cases, simply click on the default process to allow the installer to complete the entire process with minimum user intervention. Step 13 :- Upon completion of the installation process, a user may be prompted to reboot the machine. Follow the guide in Step 7 to accomplish this task. Step 14 :- To launch the software, simply click on the “Start” Menu, choose “All Programs” and select from the menu the program intended to be run. An alternative to this process is to check if a shortcut link is created on the Desktop. Clicking this icon will also launch the associated program Thanks
