My 7330gz backlight only lights up after it warms up or in positions that aren't useful. It may be related ti the crack on main cover near hinge. Sometimes if I open it very slowly or open and close it several times, it will act right. This all started right after warranty expired, and it has never been dropped.

Same exact problem...guess they sold a bunch of lemons. Anyone taken it apart and tried to find a hardware issue or is it a software problem.? Been living with it for years...like to fix it though.

Even though your computer screen has good black does not mean the computer is gone, first try the fn button on left bottom of the key board, hold this down with the f1 fey or the function key that has a light bulb on it.or the f8 fey with the sun on it. If these do not work, or the f3, try these first, then If these do not help, se if you have a local flea market that has a computer shop, these are people who are much cheaper than retail and sometimes much faster. If it is an older computer you can hook it up to a desk top montior and use it as if it was a desk top instead. I had one that the screen is broke off, but the computer still works through the montior.

Some possible causes
--Some laptops have a function key that can turn off the screen when you have an external monitor running. Check your documentation to find out.

--The lamp burnt out.

--Cover switch (when you close laptop) is stuck/jammed/loose.

Gateway 7330GZ PC Notebook screen going off and on

Ya, my 7330GZ has been having this problem. I did end up taking the screen apart.

Removing the little black nubs around the screen allow you to remove the screws, then you just use a flat headed screw driver to unclip around the edges (some can be stubborn, especially along the bottom).

The screen is glued to the casing along the top and bottom, so you have to gently separate the two.

After you have it opened up the screen has 3-4 screws along the left and right side (the right side is a pain to unscrew since the wireless antenna casing runs right along it).

Once you remove those screws you can take the screen out and get access to the ribbon cable running along the back.

Faint black screen

try the power management again if this does not work the try thebrightness of the montior if nothing ele only other thing is that the video card went from being on to long because it over heated you should buy a laptop holder for it to keep it off the table top and this way it gets more air to keep cool
