Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Magnavox 2GB MP3 Player, MSA2025/37 quit working. We bought 5 for our kids. All but one still comes up with "Magnavox" word then nothing. Plug into our Dell Inspiron, recognizes but then says "can't start device." Any ideas, help?

I followed the instructions of removing the software and then download it but now my player just blink when I try to turn it on and there aren't any files when I search it. When I conect it to the pc it shows OK to disconnect

I have also had the same problem. I also tried to download and install the updated firmware. For Vista users out there ignore the fact that the firmware update does not state "Compatible with Windows Vista," I called and confirmed that IT IS compatible with Vista.

This update DID NOT solve my problem, the device is actually not accesible to the PC. The repair software cannot find the unit. My reccomendation is to call the Phillips/Magnavox support center and let them know that this is a real problem happening to more than a few people.

800-705-2000, have your model #, Serial #, and date of purchase ready.

They are actually shipping out a new unit, which is WAY MORE than I expected, especially for a $30 unit... though this is still going to be a huge pain in my *** and a bit of a disappointment.

There is only a 90 day warranty so step on it.

I just had the same problem. Here's what I did. Un-install the Device manger and then go to this websight:
Now download Device/Firmware Manager, Version: 0101001006 English (US) and instill it. Then download Firmware Upgrade - Software, Version: 002.022.005 English (US) and run it. Now open the Device manger and click the repair tab. Now hold the back button on the mp3 player and plug it in to the computer until the computer screen says that it has reported an error. Now click repare. This worked for mine I hope it works for yours.

How do I load songs from my computer to my mp3 player? Also, how do I delete songs from my mp3 player?

Copy the songs from their location and paste them in your MP3s drive.
Or better yet use the windows media player/winamp to sync.
you can delete them the same way you add them.
use the windows explorer or windows media player/winamp

It needs to be reset.
I just did mine.
Sorry you will loose all your songs.
Download device manager program from Philips/magnovox.
Launch program
remove and reinstall battery
Plug in MP3 while holding in backwards arrow button on side.
keep holding button in until device manager recognizes MP3.
Select yes to repair and your all set.

2 GB Magnavox

The MSA2025 is a neat little player - you just pop off the cap, and the usb connecter is directly attached to the device. So, no more cords.   The reset is simply to remove and reinsert the batteries.  It can work with Windows XP or Vista, and it is compatible with Windows Media Player 11. I would go ahead and upgrade the firmware at the first sign of trouble, because my friend, who is a Magnavox tech, had her share of problems with this one before upgrading the firmware. The only drawback of this player is that it is not compatible with DRM-protected WMA files - so it won't be compatible with Napster, Bearshare, Leap Frog, and many others. It is not compatible with iTunes.  Rhapsody's Mp3-Only service will work, as will Mp3's from Limewire, Morpheus, etc. I would only use mp3 files with this device.
I would reccomend using Windows Media Player 11 to Sync songs to your Mp3 player, but you can also drag and drop using Windows Explorer - just drop  the files in the Music folder of the Magnavox.

The manual can be found at:

The Magnavox website also has the "Magnavox Device Manager" - which is the same as a Philips Device Manager but with a different logo.

Just to follow up on the post by Blu2aRox If you don't have the software you can download it here: The "Back" button is the arrow button next to the volume control (took me a while to figure that out). You hold down the back button when you plug it into the pc, and windows will recognize it, and the magnavox software will ask if you want to repair it. I had to do it twice - the first time the software said it failed to repair. But I think that was because Windows was still installing the device - if I had waited for that to finish it might have worked the first time. Thanks Blu2aRox! Works great again.
