Is there any way that you can take apart the icemaker of a Frigidare model FRT21TNG? Our water got an odor in it and we changed the filter to our water. But we are still getting horrible tasting icecubes. Is there some way we can clean it? Email me - [email protected]

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.

This is what I strongly suspect. Your water supply or piping in wall is suspect. Take the valve supply line loose from ref. And smell or taste it. orinstallt a strong filter in the line between the
wall and the ref. Its also much cheaper than the filter in your fridge.

Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
The ref. temp should be about 33-35
The Freezer temp should be 0 to 10 Any thing below these temps is overkill and a waste of elect
The higher the number you turn it up to is the coldest
The icemaker is 110v
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking or no water at icemaker or door either one, then the valve at the rear bottom of ref needs replacing
I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also if it is getting drinking water to the door but not to the icemaker (or vice versa) Then you need to replace
the water valve at the bottom rear of the fridge. It is a double valve and one side is not working
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

Does a Frigidaire Dishwasher - Mdl 363.1410691 s/n UD 320243 R have a filter? If it does where is it?

Reportedly about 18 years old. Kenmore appliances may be made by Frigidaire currently and this product number was originally attached to Kenmore appliances. Whether or not you can find a manual to an 18 year old dishwasher is anyone's guess. However, here is a video regarding cleaning a Kenmore dishwasher filter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiriGVf90fI

And here is a link which includes a video for cleaning Frigidare dishwasher filters: https://www.hunker.com/13407641/how-to-clean-a-frigidaire-dishwasher-filter

Purportedly, one can get manuals for the Frigidare products at the Frigidare site. But for an 18 year old dishwasher made by Kenmore? That is not to say you cannot get parts for one: https://www.repairclinic.com/ProductDetail/929216 or repair tips: https://www.appliancepartspros.com/repair-help/kenmore-dishwasher-36314071792-repair

Hopefully, one of these sites may be of assistance.

Why does the water taste like garlic when the filter is still green

Hi Anonymous!

Hopefully you don't live in Flint Michigan!

Refrigerator filters use a timer to determine when the filter needs changing, sometimes the amount of water you use is higher than the 'average' amount and the filter may already be used up before it turns green.

Change the filter and if the garlic taste is still there, make sure if the Ice has the same taste - you may have some transfer of odor from the icemaker or fridge.

Thanks!

Kitchenaid refridgerator/freezer/icemaker model KBFS5ET5500 EVERYTHING WORKS BUT THE ICE MAKER...JUST QUIT. THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A SHUTOFF VALVE AT THE BACK OF THE FRIDGE. I AM LOOKING TO SEE IF THE...

Hello Raymond,
In a most of cases if the filter were clogged it would affect BOTH the icemaker and the in door water dispenser, its never a bad idea to replace espically if they is a foul odor or taste in the ice or water. The water valve on the back is going to the most likely problem if the in door dispenser works yet the icemaker does not,a lot of times when the water valve is bad when its supposed to be fully closed cutting all water flow into icemaker it stays open a wee bit allowing water to seep through it causing the hose that connects to it ,running up the back wall into the icemaker to freeze up at the top where the tube enters into the freezer, that tube needs to be thawed, and to prevent it from freezing in the future the water valve needs to be replaced.

Goodluck,i hope this helps you to fix your icemaker,
Gene

Odor

Replace your water filter and totally clean your icemaker. Check the drip pan under the unit if you can smell it through the whole house. You have more than an icemaker issue.

The ice maker stopped working on my Kenmore Mod 106.55532400

either your water valve is clogged or it has gone bad, located bottom right corner, you can take it apart and check the screen filter if it is not clogged than you need a new valve approx 72-80$ plus install unless you diy!

Metal like taste in water

install a inline water filter that they can change from time to time
there are several types of filters that can do different things some for odor or for minerals some for iron removal
if they have iron in the water that would be the first one to try
