Question about Maytag SkyBox MBV1976A Beverage Dispenser
I have a Maytag Skybox Vending machine. Having problem - push buttons and nothing happens, except they blink. Tried to clean sensor - it worked once but not twice.
Could I get a copy of the manual if possible? My email is email@example.com
Read a post that said to manipulate the sensor a little, but when I found out where the sensor was (it is in the back of the door, behind the panel just to the right of the opening and the flap behind two screws) I found that there was nothing wrong with the sensor at all. The problem was simply that my door flap was not closing completely (and thus not tripping the sensor). It seems that if the door does not close completely that the machine thinks that there is a jam. I held the flap down completely and pushed the button and out came a drink from any button. I cleaned the flap and lubricated it with a little WD40 and BAM, back in business. I could not believe it was something so simple. It took two minutes to fix! Hope your has the same so it can be that simple.

REMOVE OLD SWITCH 11001182 . CUT THE 3 WIRES OFF THE LITTLE BOARD ,ONE END WIRE WITH X WRITTEN DO NOT USE. THAT SHOULD LEAVE CENTER WIRE AND 1 END WIRE. GET A STANDARD WINDOW ALARM SENSER FROM RADIO SHACK .MAKE SURE IT CLOSES WHEN MAGNETS ARE TOGETHER. SILICONE THE ONE THAT WIRES CONNECT TO SOLID EDGE OF DOOR FRAME ,OTHER TO END OF MOVING DOOR. WHEN SODA HITS DOOR MAGNET OPENS, THEN WHEN SODA IS REMOVED IT CLOSES ENDING CYCLE. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE OF WIRES JUST CONNECT 2 END WIRES ON ONE SIDE ,NEVER THE 2 OPPOSITE ENDS.

Problem may be the PCB board (w/Sensor) for the Flipper Door. It has a tendency to become corroded due to condensation that can build up by the door. Maytag replacement part number is 11001182. Part is hard to find. I was able to get one after much searching. Within 3 days it was out of stock again.
To combat the condensation (and ICE build up on the rear main board), turn the fridge down to half and keep the front lights off as much as possible. You may want to play with the settings a little depending on the area of the country you are in (dry Arizona as opposed to wet Washington State) but you shouldn't have to go below half.
Even though the lights are flouresent, they still throw off a lot of heat which causes condensation. The fridge runs longer to combat the heat so the added moisture freezes in the back (where the cooling elements are) and the condensation builds up in the front where the sensor and heat source is. It's cool enough in front to hinder evaporation and because the fridge runs longer you don't get that defrost period (if you will) in the back that regular frost free refrigerators or freezers have, thus the ice build up. Hope this helps.

I also have one of these vending machines. The problem Maytag had with these and the reason why they are discontinued is that it was not made with an automatic defroster. SO, ice litterally builds up on the entire motor in the back and then the buttons do not work. Here is an easy test. Unplug the machine for 24 hours and if there is ice on the motor it will melt off(to where I dont know!!). Try the buttons again and see if they work. Mine did. They also had to come out and replace one of the pieces inside because the ice broke it! Mine by the way does not work anymore because the other problem they have had with these is that the compressor goes bad!! Once THAT happens, its more expensive to fix than it's worth! Good luck! Maytag SUCKS!!!
