Sony Trinitron, KV-36XBR400 standby blinking light cannot power on. test it three times. first time, blinking 7 times, second and third time, blinking 5 times. bought it second hand two weeks ago for $50, working for one week. Then it cannot power on. Is it worth to repair?

A 6 flash error indicates a problem with the backlight. Your set is less than a year old and still in warranty, so you should contact Sony and arrange for a service call to get it repaired.

How many blinks are you getting?. Blinking codes tells a service tech what section of the unit is manfunctioning.

• Diagnosis: Power does not turn on. Possible causes include: Power cord is not plugged in, Fuse is burned out (F6001) (G board). Symptoms of the problem: Power does not come on, No power is supplied to the unit, AC power supply is faulty. Diagnosis: Horizontal deflection stopped. Possible cause: Q8035, 8038 is shorted. Seven blinks - High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits.
