Rating: 85%, 88 votes hi,
Open the router page 192.168.1.1 >> type this in the internet explorer address bar.
1. the Home Page is displayed. Click Wireless from the left menu
2.The settings to Wireless section of Router appear.Click Channel and SSID.
3.Changing the Wireless Network Name (SSID)
To identify your wireless network, a name called the SSID is used. The SSID is your network name. The default network name of the Router is Belkin N1 Wireless followed by six digits that are unique to your Router. Your network name will look something like Belkin_N1_Wireless_123456.
You can change this to anything you choose, or you can leave it unchanged. Keep in mind, if you decide to change your wireless network name, and there are other wireless networks operating in your area, your network name needs to be different from other wireless networks that may be operating in your area. To change the SSID, type in the SSID that you want to use in the SSID field and click Apply Changes.
The change is immediate. If you make a change to the SSID, your wireless-equipped computers may also need to be reconfigured to connect to your new network name. Refer to the documentation of your wireless network adapter for information on making this change.
4.Changing the Wireless Channel
There are a number of operating channels from which you can choose—in the United States, there are 11 and in the United Kingdom (and most of Europe), there are 13.
In a small number of other countries, there are other channel requirements. Your Router is configured to operate on the proper channels for the country in which you reside. The channel can be changed if needed. If there are other wireless networks operating in your area, your network should be set to operate on a channel that is different than the other wireless networks.
Select channel from Wireless Channel drop-down menu. Click Apply Changes.
5.Using the Wireless Mode Switch
This switch allows you to set the Router’s wireless modes. There are several modes. Note: Some modes may require firmware updates to be enabled.
1) 802.11g only
Setting the Router to this mode will allow only 802.11g-compliant devices to join the network, keeping out any slower 802.11b devices.
2) 802.11g & 802.11b
Setting the Router to this mode will let 802.11g- and 802.11b-compliant devices to join the network.
3) 802.11n & 802.11g
Setting the Router to this mode will allow N1/draft 802.11n- and 802.11g-compliant devices to join the network, keeping out any slower 802.11b devices.
4) 802.11n only
Setting the Router to this mode will allow only N1/draft 802.11n-compliant devices to join the network, keeping out 802.11g and 802.11b devices.
5) Off
This mode will turn OFF the Router’s access point, so no wireless devices can join the network. Turning off the wireless function of your Router is a great way to secure your network when you are away from home for a long period of time, or don’t want to use the wireless feature of the Router at a certain time.
Select wireless mode from Wireless Mode drop-down menu. Click Apply Changes.
6. Using the Broadcast SSID Feature
Note: This advanced feature should be employed by advanced users only. For security, you can choose not to broadcast your network’s SSID. Doing so will keep your network name hidden from computers that are scanning for the presence of wireless networks. To turn off the broadcast of the SSID, remove the check mark from the box next to Broadcast SSID, and then click Apply Changes.
The change is immediate. Each computer now needs to be set to connect to your specific SSID; an SSID of ANY will no longer be accepted. Refer to the documentation of your wireless network adapter for information on making this change

Have G wireless router, Belkin model F5D7234-4-BC. Lost wireless capability, reset but now my laptop is asking for the network security key. I don't know it if I have one. It sounds like this should be...

I will be happy to assist you with this problem.
There should be a small reset on the back of the router. As seen in the picture below.jameshumanit.gif
First, you will need to push this button using a paper clip or a small screwdriver etc. Keep the button pressed for about 15 seconds. This will return your router back to it's like new settings. It will take approximately 1 minute for your router to reset.
Once the router has been reset. You can access the setup information via your web browser by plugging the router into one of your network ports and typing this into your address bar http://192.168.2.1
If you have any further questions, please ask, I will be happy to elaborate.

Dell dimension 3000 won't see wireless network

Hi, I've jst been looking on the web at the Mimo routers, you may find this article interesting, it may help even though its a couple of years old?

http://www.behardware.com/articles/614-2/wi-fi-mimo.html

Pay attention to part about 802.11n compatibility?
Perhaps try changing the IEEE standard on the router to 802.11g in the set up pages, as it may be set at 802.11n, which your older wireless card will not see.

As to the acquiring ip address message, try using a static ip address, here's a good guide:-

Maybe this will help?

How do put the wireless mode on 802.11g mode instead of 802.11n draft mode, on my Belkin N1 Vision wireless router,F5D8232-4

Open your web browser and type the router IP address of the router (by default, the address is http://192.168.2.1.) in the address bar and press Enter, there should be an option there.

I've got belkin G Mimo router but don't know how to set up a password . my net is really slow some times I think someone's using it.

To set the password for the router, open Internet Explorer. In the address box on the top, type in 192.168.2.1 and hit enter.
This should bring up your router configuration screens, where you can set a password.

I need to change the mtu settings on my belkin f5d9230-4 router

You will need a PC that's wired or wireless through the router.

1.) Open Internet Explorer , type 192.168.2.1 in the address bar and press Enter.
2.) A windows will pop up for username and password. Type admin for both. If it does not accept admin, type the username and password that you set the first time you setup your router
3.) On the Belkin web interface click the WAN tab (left side of the screen) > select Connection Type and look for an MTU box (lower part of the window)
4.) Change the MTU and save the changes.

Good luck and have a nice day!

I have a Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO Router that I lost the setup assistant cd to. How can I still hook it up and make it work?

You can still configure it even without the setup CD of the router, you just need to access the router setup page using its IP address, usinga computer wired to the router, But if you want you can call Belkin tech support so one of their tech can walk you through on how to manually configure the router 1-800-2235546..

Hope that helps........

How do i secure my belkin router

Acess its set up page and from there go to the wireless tab and look for wireless security. I recommend you use WPA.
TO access the set up page, take note of the default gateway under lan status and type it on the address bar. Enter the password that you have set on the router.

I have (stupidly) disabled the NAT feature of my Belkin wireless G router, without specifying an IP address to access it, and so can get no access to the wireless network from any pc. Is there a way to...

to turn the NAT feature back on in the belkin router, just reset it.

And you can always tell what address (known as the gateway address) access the router, which ip,

by clicking start, run, and then type cmd and click 'OK'

in the black window that pops up, type 'ipconfig' without the commas and hit enter on your keyboard

look for the default gateway

if nat was on, or after you reset it,

its 192.168.2.1

type 192.168.2.1 in the address bar of internet explorer to access the router

most routers default password is ither admin , or password

spin

.

Generally access the router control panel panel putting router ip number on internet explorer bar. You will be asked for passwords. Check IP number and password for your model on manual.
On panel go to wireless then security, you find menus at left and top bar of the router control page in internet explorer.
Set encryption and input the password.
Do save all command (button at bottom of page).
set wep password also on wireless networked computers.

Cannot finish installation (Belkin F5D8633-4 wireless modem router N mimo)

ok, obvious questions first:

Do you have a different modem from TALKTALK? can you connect to the internet through that?

if so, you may not have to set a username and password for the belkin router: just connect the belkin router's internet port to the talktalk modem and let the talktalk modem handle the automatic connection.

do you know what protocol the talktalk ISP uses?  it's probably PPPOE; make certain that your belkin router is set to the correct protocol.  if you just hook it up to the talktalk modem though, you probably won't have to specificy a protocol at all.
