Sounds like you might be using a bad driver, or the printer is in dump mode.
Try hitting the green button and see if it says exiting dump.
If still having trouble, inside the printer it tells you that if you are having printing trouble:
This process re-reads the label length (so only do it with the labels you want to use in, or it will waste labels until you do it again with those in it) - but I'm suggesting it only because it enters and exits dump mode (which I have read can cause the garbage when you try to print).

Since the printer prints the test page from the driver, most likely the problem is with your Cardfive software. To test this, try printing a card on the printer from Microsoft Word or Notepad. Just remember to set your page size or you will get multiple cards printed. The Fargo printer is just a windows printer and may receive output from any windows software.

Sounds like you put your printer into line mode. Line mode prints code so you can see what is sent to the printer to look for possible mistakes in the code.
To switch from line mode back to page mode.

Check your printer folder to see if there is more than one printer installed on your computer and that the Zebra has a check mark next to it making it the default printer. If everything seems o.k. I would then suggest uninstalling the printer software and reinstalling it. Sometimes a file gets corrupted or with windows (I am assuming your using windows) you never know.

I would say the printers buffer has overflowed, try looking around for a Print Buffer to hook up to the printer. The standard Flash is getting very hard to find.
Please check rear door area for paper, can you use manual feed slot? Power off machine with all jams removed and paper loaded, then power on, can you tell us exact error message/lights that are shown in this state?
