Craftsman Garage Opener /

Believe the garage door opener limit switch assembly is bad( 41D3452) The pinion gear not engaging, presume the common contact should travel back and forth when opening and closing.

I just had the same problem with my Sears Opener. It has the "Protector System" (safety sensors). When I checked the sensor indicator light on the receivinng eye the green light had a slight flicker. I cleaned both the sending eye and receiving eye lens of dust and cob webs, then realigned the receiving sensor for a steady green indicator light. When I checked the door function it now works fine. I quess over time, temperature, and viberation the sensors become dirty and get out of alignment, as no one had tampered with the sensor alignment prior to this. Hope this works for you.

Older garage door opener, 1/2 hp limit switch does not stop door in up position keeps trying and does not shut off?

If this is a Craftsman you need to remove the cover and you can then watch the limit switch assembly. If it is a Genie the up limit contact is probably broken

It sounds like the gear and sprocket assembly has gone bad. This would cause the symptoms you have.

I have a Craftsman 1/2 HP chain drive garage door opener.

You need to take the cover off the motor unit and watch how the limit switch assembly works. If the door is not stopping when the contacts make then you have a bad logic board.

Garage door opener motor doesn't work.

2 flashes is a safety eye issue, but you problen is most likely that the chain is not sync with the limit setting. Take the bottom off the gear and sprocket assemble and rotate center limit srew until it is in the same position as the trolley.
