Hi Mr. FixYa, I've got the same problem with my M170 Jenn-Air micro unit as others have reported. The circuit breaker switch on top of the oven(inside) was tripped. Oven was not on and I'm wondering what caused this? Micro was in the middle of heating something and everything went black on panel; oven still worked. If this keeps recurring, do I need to have something fixed?? I guess I can run a heavy duty extension cord from the micro to another outlet inside the kitchen cabinet? Also, another problem, moisture and wetness inside the micro have caused the bottom to start rusting with more paint still peeling off. Can I just clean rust off, etc. and re-paint with maybe an epoxy paint? Or, what would you recommend? Thanks so much in advance for any help you can provide. I'm glad I found you website and glad to see that I can get parts if needed. Frank, Newington, CT **************************

What are the dimensions of the Jenn-Air M170 built-in Microwave Oven (built 1998) that I need to specify for a replacement unit? Externally, I see the frame measuring 26 3/4" W by 17" H, and the unit within the frame measuring 22" W by 13" H.

Ed Michaels : Hi, your machine is long out of production and installation instructions usually come with the machine and are not published. you have a standard size 24" built in machine, and most 24" machines will fit the space. I would click on Jenn Air or call 1-800-JENN-AIR (536-6247) and ask for a replacement recommendation and a copy of old installation instructions for planning with designer or installer. They have access to records if anyone does and an interest in serving you. Alternatively, talk to another seller and discuss installation. they will also want to help. Let me know if I can help further.ed

My jmc7000 jenn-air blew a circuit breaker. No power to the unit. There is power to the recepticle. I'm wondering if it blew a circuit breaker, does that mean the problem is most likely a big problem...

Yau say a few conflicting things. First you wonder if it blew a breaker, and then say you have power to the receptacle. If you have poer to your receptacle your breaker if not tripped. There are NO breakers Inside of the Microwave. Only 1 time fuses. So, if your init is dead it has probably blown a fuse inside of the unit. If that is the case. Probably shorted HIgh volt capacitor would be my first guess. If it is jsut dead. it can be other things than just a blown fuse. bad thermal protectors, bad low voltage transformer on main circuit board. Burnt wires. Anything that will cause it to lose power inside the unit. From bad parts to bad connections.

I have a Jenn-Air M170 & parts of the inner door have cracked and broken, exposing the interior metal. Can the door be repaired or do I need to replace the unit? Does Jenn-Air still make this model?

Yes you will have to replace it, and yes, i am fairly sure they still have that part in stock. please use the direct link below to ask and obtain the part you need.
Also please ask them for the service manual too, this will make the task ever so much easier.. However the replacement parts used to come with fitting instructions..

I have a blown internal fuse on my JennAir M170b microwave. The fuse holder says 250V, 15A fuse, but the fuse that was in there is a 125V, 15A fuse. The micro plugs into a normal 110V circuit. Which type...

Hi,

The information on the fuse is the maximum rating. The holder may not match the rating.

The 'A' is the very important part of the size. You will need a 15 Amp fuse. The best fuse to use is 'ceramic'. You can find them at Radio Shack in the back of the store there are drawers with electrical parts.

15 Amp ceramic

The same thing happened to ours last night. We went to add another minute of cooking time and realized the oven was dead - no clock, no display of any kind, and no more cooking!

I've verified the power outlet is OK. Ideas???

My JennAir M170 just quit working, nothing.........bought in 1998. Time for a new one? If so, how do I go about just getting the micro for the combo unit? Or do I have to buy an whole new combo unit?

I would at least have a service tech look at it. Here are the comon items to check most of the time when a microwave just quits. 1 the internal fuse. 2 the power diode 3 the large capacitor 4. door open / closed micro-switches 5 the magnetron. The least likely suspect is the control panel yet can also cause the problem. You should still be able to keep this unit in service cost effectively. Until I had it checked out I would not give up on it.

No power on Jenn-Air JMC 7000 ADB Microwave

I have a different Jenn-Air built in microwave & oven combination but I'm sure my solution will work for you as well.

My microwave was plugged into an outlet located on the top of the oven. This outlet has a "circuit breaker" that tripped while we were using the self cleaning feature on the oven. You just need to reset the breaker button right next to the wall oven outlet. Why it tripped is a mystery since the microwave was not in use at the time. Bad design.

Of course, getting to the reset button is your only challenge. You need to pull the microwave and oven out of the wall/cabinetry in order to get to it. The unit is heavy so you will need help. Or, call a certified repairman and they should be able to do this for you in 30 minutes or less so the service call should not run you more than @$85 if it is no longer under warranty.

I would also suggest you contact Jenn-Air to complain about this issue and seek reimbursement from them if necessary.
