I would recommend testing the starter.

A way that can sometimes get it started if it is the starter, is to hit the starter with something. Like a rubber mallet or hammer. Just not too hard, some small hits should do it.

Another recommendation is, if it is a manual/stick shift, then put it in 2nd, hold the clutch, have a friend push the jeep till its going about 5-10mph and pop the clutch while in second. It should start up, if its just the starter.

Went to put gas, after I put gas the car wouldn't

Check that you put petrol and not diesel or visa versa when you refuelled the vehicle.

Hi my 2006 Jeep Liberty won't start or turn over all keep hearing is this click sound when I turn the ignition , Plus I just replaced the battery .

Probably a starter. It sounds like the starter solenoid is working, but the starter motor is not energizing.

You could try this simple trick, but Im about 85% sure you have a bad starter.

Have a buddy help you push the vehicle in neutral for a short distance. When you get it moving at a walking pace, put the transmission in Drive, and let the vehicle come to a stop. You may hear a little clicking, but thats OK, it wont hurt anything. Put the transmission back in Park and try to start the engine again. Sometimes the starter gear gets stuck on the flywheel and it wont engage when you try to start the engine. This trick may move the flywheel a little so the starter can engage.

I don't know beans about automatice transmissions and the average person can only check the fluid levels and take it to a transmission shop if it is more serious.
As far as the engine goes, you need to localize the problem because with the other indications it might not be the normal stuff. So, what I would recommend is that you take the serpentine belt off and try to turn the crank with a large wrench (CW only) with the car in neutral. If you can turn it, then it is probably not your engine freezing up. If it won't turn then the transmission is probably not disengaging from the flywheel - maybe the torque converter.

If it does turn over, then you can put the belt back on and try to jump start the car with another vehicle or the boost function on a battery charger. It it starts then you know to look at the charging system - battery, alternator. If it doesn't start then the starter or the starter reley.

check the battery for full charge, you should have a minimum of 12.4 volts, once its charged ( I'd have a parts store do a LOAD test on it ) start the vehicle, and check the posts again, it should be giving you a reading of 13.5 to 14.5 volts,, if not, and you've cleaned all the contacts you have a bad alternator

Sounds like you have a fuel problem for sure. Perhaps you can simply put 10 gallons of fuel in the tank, charge the battery and try to start the car again. If this doesn't work try spraying w/d 40 into the intake and try to start the car.
Get back to me if one of these doesn't or does work.

Try this. Lock and unlock the tail gate with the key and see if it will start. The battery must be hooked uo when this procedure is followed. Whenever the battery is disconnected, the security circuit shuts the ignition down.
When you hook up any battery, make certain that you connect the positive battery cable first and negatvie (ground) second.

Try closing the doors then hook up jumper cables, let it sit for a couple of minutes with cables hooked up and other vehicle running. Then try to use key to turn off alarm before opening door. Then try to start it.

could be the battery still or it could be your battery head isnt contacting well. wen your rev the battery is good for some time and later thesame problem then i think your alternator isnt charging your battery which kills battery life span. try all this and if no charge get back to me.

Engine Electronic Problems

I posted to this but it never went through. what the other guy said is OK with one addition: Check volatage while running... with all accessories on including high beams...Voltage should not drop below 12.5, nor should it continue to "creep down" below 12V at any time. If it does change alternator! testing is not valid unless the battery is at or above 12v before beginning or if drivebelt is loose.
