Could be touch pad turned off or configuration issues. Try connecting a USB pointing device to get you going right away.

My cursor jumps all of the page when I'm typing on my Gateway NV76R45u laptop. what am I doing?

There's one possibility that may or may not be a fix... interference from cordless phones can make your cursor do very strange things. If there's a cordless phone around, move it away from the laptop and see if that helps. Cleaning your touchpad with a damp cloth may also help.. just a speck of dirt or dust can throw things off. You might try adjusting the sensitivity on your touchpad (through control panel). If these suggestions don't at least help, try Gateway's support site. Good luck.

My cursor jumps all of the page when I'm typing on my Gateway NV76R45u laptop. what am I doing?

I was having a similar issue with my laptop. What I found was while I was typing, my thumbs were close enough to the "Touch Pad" to move the curser. You can decrease the sensitivity or disable the touch pad (which I do when the external mouse is connected) Let me know if this helps.

Keep cursor moving and and drive

if the cursor is moving by it self you do have a virus. When you restart the computer bring it up in safe mode and check for a virus using maleware byte from Cnet.com
