Question about Toshiba SD-4900 DVD Player

1 Answer

Toshiba SD4900 You responded to my problem with the scrabled disply. Yes, I tried a different CD. The OSD operates fine. My issue is with the on board segmented dislpay, which has all of it's segments( at varying intensities) lit up, therefore I can't read anything on it.

The dispaly is completly lit up! Every selection/indicator is on. Plays fine but if I put in a CD, I can't see any track info, like time remaining, track number, etc.

The above was cut and paste from the original post.

My Toshiba RDXV60 stopped working, there are no lights no sound and will not respond to the remote or to button operation.

if you want to confirm if the transformer in the power supply is also bad you have to make a voltage checking. turn on the dvd player and make a voltage checking at the output at the power supply board.

Toshiba DVD SD73000KU will not recognize ANY disk

hi
have you been tried to clean the lazer lens with a cd lens cleaner. if doesn't work you can do with manual cleaning using a fiber cloth moist with alcohol damped gently the laser lens which may be dirty causing not to detect a disc. now if those tries still doesn't work your last option to make an adjustment on the speed settings of the drive motor. at the lower portion of the lens their is a trimmer adjustment, you can used a small flat head screw driver then try to adjust the trimmer just a little bit counter clock wise, make sure the player is unplugged for safety. then try to plugged it and turn on the player, insert now a cd and observed. if the motor doesn't rotating, removed then check if worn out, replaced a new one if needed.this will worked now.
hope this will helped thanks for consulting the fixya.

I don't know how to change keys. No manual. What do the osd and pbc buttons do on the remote, and the bscan and fscan buttons do on the machine?

OSD means on-screen display (clock, counter, etc. if applicable). Press OSD button and observe the screen.

PBC is playback control (applies to Video CDs to allow the user to interact with them using menus) - not a very reliable function for this disc format.

B-Scan & F-Scan generally means back and forward scan (search) respectively. They're a bit like fast forward or rewind functions in a VCR - press those buttons while a music CD is loaded and see what they do. (probably skip forward or backward over a track and you can observe the counter display while doing so)

It's very simple really once you have done it a few times. The bonus here is that it didn't cost you anything to ask, and won't involve any repairs by a workshop, as long as the player works fine overall.

I power it up and insert a disc and it says Wrong Region on the screen. This is a Canadian unit that has worked fine for two years now, and I've tried several different DVDs which work fine on my larger...

If you have relocated then the region code may need to be changed. However using region 0 is most practical. Clean the optical head of the player with a CD/DVD cleaner too & see if it responds............sodeep
